Great location from NZMH Park - easy walk and dog friendly outside. Food was great and very good value. Great night specials. Staff very well organised and table service was great.

The beach isn't that big. You won't need much time to walk along.
Although we went there in a summer day, I don't think it is very suitable to swim. Maybe better for wind surfing or sunbathe? It was high tide and windy when we were there. Maybe it was the reason no people were seen.
There is an area for shower. We haven't used it so we are not sure about its quality.
anyway, you would love the view and enjoy some time with your companion there.

Taking a walk along the beach front ta plimmerton is one of our favourite activities. This is an easy walk from the train station to the end of the road and return which will take around 1 hour.there is lots to see on the way looking out towards the South Island. A early picnic on the beach is lovely as you watch the sunset. There are many seats and a few picnic tables along the way where you can stop.

As I'm not a beach person , I rather walked along the promenade.
Even though it was windy and not too warm, there were still a few hard-boiled guys in the water.

we visited Plimmerton Beach a couple of times on a recent trip to New Zealand.
when the tide is out there is plenty of sand/beach to run around on but I believe at high tide the water comes up pretty close to the sea wall.
one night we walked to a local takeaway shop for food and brought it back down to the beach to eat which was a lovely setting.

Plimmerton Beach is ideal for children, particularly at or near high tide. It is safe for swimming and generally free of any big waves. There are several cafes and a fish and chip shop as well as one or two other shops. The beach is a great place to eat fish and chips while the walk from the railway station along the waterfront is easy with excellent views of the sea. The whole area is very peaceful and sheltered from northerly winds by hills. However, the area is open to the southerly wind. The sunsets seen from the foreshore are as good as most.

Great beach to sit and eat chips or pizza on watching the sun go down. Big wide sandy beach which can get up good winds. If you're into windsurfing this place is popular when the conditions are right.
Easy to park up and take a stroll.

We did a walk on the coast from Plimmerton to Paekakariki. The beach is really peaceful on a sunny day and you can either walk alongside or just have a picnic. This would be great for families and friends who want to chill out on summer's day!

We took a man in a wheelchair for an outing by train to Plimmerton. He loved the ride along the waterfront. It was easy going from the train station all the way to the boat club.
The paths are mostly excellent and there are seats dotted along the way to stop and take in the views.
We had lunch in the hall grounds which has a kiddies playground attached.
A stop at the dairy for ice cream rounded off a lovely day.
Plimmerton beach is ok for swimming but there is not a lot of places with sand to just lie in the sun. You have to go near the boat club, and thats the other end of the beach from the shops. No dairy or cafes up that end.
