Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beach isn't that big. You won't need much time to walk along.
Although we went there in a summer day, I don't think it is very suitable to swim. Maybe better for wind surfing or sunbathe? It was high tide and windy when we were there. Maybe it was the reason no people were seen.
There is an area for shower. We haven't used it so we are not sure about its quality.
anyway, you would love the view and enjoy some time with your companion there.

Great location from NZMH Park - easy walk and dog friendly outside. Food was great and very good value. Great night specials. Staff very well organised and table service was great.

we visited Plimmerton Beach a couple of times on a recent trip to New Zealand.

when the tide is out there is plenty of sand/beach to run around on but I believe at high tide the water comes up pretty close to the sea wall.

one night we walked to a local takeaway shop for food and brought it back down to the beach to eat which was a lovely setting.

We love walking from one end to the other which takes about 1 hour. The coast is lovely with variety from rock pools to a lovely sandy beach. There is a boat ramp and lots of lovely seaside homes. The sunsets are beautiful. You can buy a pizza or fish and chips and eat them overlooking the water. Most of the time you get views of the top of the South Island.

We liked sitting outside in their courtyard and the food was brought to us fairly quickly, nicely presented and good choices.

Plimmerton Beach, just a 25 minute drive or train ride from Wellington CBD is beautiful and well worth a visit. Soft sand, rock pools to explore, safe swimming, cafes and restaurants just a stroll away.
We often visit to while away a quiet afternoon.

Plimmerton Beach is ideal for children, particularly at or near high tide. It is safe for swimming and generally free of any big waves. There are several cafes and a fish and chip shop as well as one or two other shops. The beach is a great place to eat fish and chips while the walk from the railway station along the waterfront is easy with excellent views of the sea. The whole area is very peaceful and sheltered from northerly winds by hills. However, the area is open to the southerly wind. The sunsets seen from the foreshore are as good as most.

The beach is in a lovely setting with hills all around but is for looking at not for swimming. It is popular for surfing.
