I took a stroll out here by myself to enjoy the sunshine and it is just beautiful. It was a sunny day and people were swimming. I just sat, enjoyed the view and felt the sun warming my bones.

This beach was a lovely scenic spot to sit and enjoy the view. It's very close to the city, yet a nice spot to relax or eat an ice-cream.

I have heard about Oriental Bay and it was one of the planned destinations when we visited Wellington. Well, white sands, handy to the city but lacks character. The marine reserve is more my kind of place.

This is the best place for strolling, jogging or running on a GOOD Day. If the sun is out and there is no bothersome wind then Oriental parade is magic. Purpose made beach (sand carted in), plenty of eating places and ice-cream. You might even see the fountain going. The only warning is that on a good day everyone wants... More

This is the place where you do nothing but it feels useful. It offers you with a peaceful clean beach. It can be your option before or after Te pa pa museum, so I recommend this place to be visited for everyone.

Oriental Bay is an attractive suburb of Wellington which backs onto the slopes of Mount Victoria. it has a small stretch of beach and good views across the bay over to Central Business District. We made a number of visits to the area and it was always a hive of activity and particularly on the warmer days it was attracting... More

If you don't want to swim in the sea in winter there is the heated Freyberg swimming pool, but many do swim here all winter. On a hot Wellington summer's day, the beach is packed with city workers. The fountain plays, the people promenade, and the cafes and ice cream shops boom. Easy to get to by foot around the... More

I walked around from the waterfront near Ta Papa on a lovely sunny day. There's plenty of cafes and places to grab a coffee or ice cream, and plenty of spots to stop and sit and people watch.
