Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I really liked the vibe of Cuba Street, super open, friendly with everyone. I just loved it. However, the only thing I would improve is the night market that occurs every Friday and Saturday at around 5pm. It has very few places and it has a lot of potential to become a bigger market with more options for street food.

There is so much to see and do in the Cuba Street every hour of the day. There are some very special restuarants and cafes and some shops that you don't see in every city of New Zealand. Of course you shouldn't miss the very quirky buckets fountain either.

Enjoyed trolling through this street mall as lots of shops, eating places, cafes and street performers abound. Look for bargains along the way or just sip coffee at one of the cafes to watch the world go by. Colourful and funky precinct. Would recommend checking it out during the day time but be careful as it starts to get dark. Sometimes some dodgy characters abound.

Always such a nice place for quirky shops and cafes, full of bookshops, record shops, second hand clothing and other quirky shops. Lots of cafes for a rest after all that shopping and of course the famous bucket fountain to see. Maybe there will even be some street performers while you're visiting. Cuba Street is certainly never boring and always very colorful. Definitely don't miss.

Walked up this street because of its proximity to Pa Tae museum. It is simply an outdoor street mall of shops. With few exceptions most are typical shopping venues. Occasionally there is some street performance or music. Simply walking a block or two should be enough.

The signature sculpture is a cry for attention. I previewed this area and cancelled by dinner reservation because I didn't want to walk back from here again to my hotel. Time to let this go or get it back to a renovated hipster place it is trying to be.

This is where to come for good atmosphere, food, drinks, etc. We were here on 31 December so understandably packed. Lots to see and take in just ambulating back & forth as you decide what/where to eat - so much choise of cuisine!

Cuba Street is a funky shopping Street with lots of hip shops and plenty of cafes and restaurants. A bit of construction work going on at the moment so this takes away a bit from the atmosphere.
Still it shouldn't be missed and you can also see the iconic bucket fountain.

First place in NZ that opens beyond 9pm - after two weeks of early barclosingthroughout the North Island, wetook ourselves to Cuba Street and its adjacent streets - post 9 pn. Yes its full of loud and boisterous young people but for us it was a sign of life.

I guess I was expecting something more quaint. Cuba Street, in my opinion, looked rundown. True there are a lot of restaurants and a lot of them due post their menus to view which is very helpful. I don't think I would have comfortable being on Cuba Street in the evening even with my husband. I will give a shout out to 2 places: Moore Wilson's and Ombra. Moore Wilson's is a wonderful grocery store. Even if you don't need groceries go in there. Pick up a dessert or maybe something to eat later. Very clean and a wonderful atmosphere. Ombra is an Italian restaurant located on a corner. Fun atmosphere. They have a happy hour special where they provide a free appetizer with certain drinks. The food was also good and reasonably priced. Glad we dined.

I am not sure if there is a big hotel on Cuba Street, but definitely there are some rooms or apartments to rent, this street has low rise buildings, so I would not expect to have anything big, but you should be able to find something there. Good luck

Hi, yes, this is an open street for only people to walk for most part, there are many restaurants and bars plus some shops, up the street there is a very good fish and chips place - highly recommend.
