Beautiful walks, lots of playgrounds. So many nice initiatives! You also have the space place up there and a museum. But my favourite place is the duck pond. There is is bin were they put bags with duck food so you can feed them! If it's empty you just have to go to the information desk and they'll give you... More

I walked through the gardens from the top of the cable car down to the city. Walking through the various garden displays is pleasant and relaxing. As the footpath meanders down the hill revealing different species of plants, trees and shrubs you catch views of the city and surrounding suburbs in the background. The formal gardens towards the bottom are... More

We went up via the cable car and returned this way too. We didn't do the cable car route as we wanted to see the tree top visitors centre and we also fed the ducks. It is very pretty but if you have small children / unfit adults be wary of the steep climb back.

What a stunning setting. Utterly breathtaking views, peaceful, immaculate gardens, incredible flora, paths everywhere but map and signposts make it easy. We took the tram up there and walked back down. Sadly we were time strapped in Wellington and I would have loved to have stayed there longer. Suitable for wheelchairs, prams, kids play area, information station, toilets, etc. A... More

Been there a few times. A place with full of oxygen. I highly recommend anyone who needs a break should visit the Botanic Gardens.

This botanical garden, whilst being a very pleasant walk down from the cable car, is not very interesting or informative if you enjoy the science side of plants. If you just want a park then this is great.

We really enjoyed walking around these gardens, and the views across Wellington are fantastic. There were lots of staff around at the cable car station, to provide information, however the walks around the garden could do with some better signposting!

Have been coming here my whole life and it's a great spot to wander round with friends, family or alone. Look out for concerts in the sound shell and take a picnic for a gorgeous evening out.

We took the tramcar to the top and then walked down through the botanical gardens. Part of the pathways are a little steep. It is worth the effort to see all different plants, trees and wildlife. On the day we were there, a brass band was playing in the gardens. A little walk to get back to the town centre.... More

The rose garden is so beautiful, especially since it has the hills surrounding it. The café on location had some great sandwiches and desserts, which my group and I enjoyed thoroughly. Just walking through the whole place was great, and definitely something you should do if you have the time for it.
