The garden is a Garden of National Significance by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and is an Historic Places Trust Heritage Area. Take the Cable Car up and follow the Downhill path to the city.

it was a free attraction but not much to look at since it was almost winter. the view of Wellington and the Tasman sea was nice.

Beautiful walk down through the Gardens. Take the Cable car & then take a leisurely walk through the Gardens. Lots of interesting plants & places to stop. enjoy some lunch & refreshments in the cafe.

It depends how fast you walk? But I would set aside an hour.

Yes. They continually are moving in new flowers to match their seasons. In April it will be the start of the fall season so the roses may not be blooming but the garden beyond the roses is such a vast land of beauty it is... More
