It was a lovely sunny and blue skies when passengers loading on the boat. We went round the bay and stopped off at three islands. It became quite choppy and the spray was coming over the front of the boat, but the skipper came up to check we were OK, but did not advise us to go below. It was a really enjoyable trip and would recommend it. I did not get off, but you could visit the islands, although best to check what time the ferry would come back to collect you.

Headed off on the 10.30 ferry to Days Bay via Seaton. Choppy passage but giving a good view of coastal Wellington. At Day’s Bay we took to Eastbourne where we had lunch.

I booked a Days Bay tour and I had a nice time. The front desk staff was accommodating and the Ferry crew were very helpful and attentive to their passengers. The departure and arrival were on time too. I will definitely book with them again soon!

Inexpensive way to see Wellimgton from the water. Not too much to do in Days Bay or Eastbourne, and limited choice of restaurants. Good for kids.

Took the Grandkids for a trip. Granddaughter not too impressed to get on the ferry but manage by blackmail! All kids had a great time on ferry was a lovely day stopped at Somes Island for people to get off Grandson very interested so next trip will be a stop there. Lovely smooth sailing can purchase coffee etc on board. Stopped in Wellington for lunch kids had a run around Frank Kitts Park then caught ferry back to Days Bay. Kids and Adults lot quieter on way back. Ferry going back does a side trip to Seatoun. Was a lovely day out. We all enjoyed the ferry ride and was great seeing all the yachts out on the harbour. Awesome day!

Enjoyed this spectacular find on a second trip to Wellington (having missed it previously). Only found it by stumbling across the waiting ferry at Queen’s Wharf. Learned about departure and routing options at the super helpful office opposite the dock. Ended up going over to Days Bay for a stop, and walked the mile or so to quaint Eastbourne for lunch at a wonderful little French café. Then took the ferry to beautiful uninhabited Matiu/Somes island for a two-hour hike, learning incredible history about livestock quarantined last century and controversial WWII internment camps. Enjoyed great views of the bay and Wellington and meandering among grazing sheep. Then took the last ferry back to Queen’s wharf. What a great day; highly recommend this as an exploration option.

We went into the ticket office and had really great service, and this carried over to the Gents onboard - knowledgeable, and great teachers to the younger Children. Good viewing spots on the top deck - watch for dolphins!

We went across to days bay and Eastbourne as an afterthought but so glad that we did. As superannuitants we were able to travel free so a real bonus. The ferry is well equipped and was very stable despite the moderate swells on the day.
I was amazed at the number of people who departed the ferry at the Somes Island stop, obviously a very popular place to visit

Had never used this service before across to Days bay, modern catamarans that sat comfortably on the water and didn't waste any time getting across the other side of the harbour

The tickets are $24 return to days bay. There is no need to book in advance unless you are a large group. We left the city at 12 noon and returned on the 3 pm ferry which allowed adequate time exploring days bay. The staff on the ferry were knowledgeable and helpful, especially helpful for elderly people. There is a bar onboard if you fancy a drink. Our ferry stopped at some island to drop off people before continuing to days bay. We saw dolphins on our way home which was wonderful.
