Find out why 36 million New Zealanders can't be wrong. Okay, so there's a few tourists in there too. But that's how many passengers Interislander has carried over the Cook Strait since our first sailing in 1962.

Cruise from Wellington to Picton in the stunning Marlborough Sounds in just over three hours on the three largest Cook Strait ferries in New Zealand.

Extensive viewing decks, luxurious premium lounges and choice of cafes and bars. Plenty to keep the kids entertained - and plenty for mum and dad too.

Cars, motorhomes, coaches- all vehicles are welcome, just drive on, drive off. And for the rental car providers that can't cross, just drop off your car at the rental depots based at the terminals then walk onboard - easy!

Interislander's been doing this for over 50 years, so you know you are in good hands. And with eleven sailings per day, our timetable is bound to fit yours.

Don't just cross the Strait, cruise it with Interislander and make your perfect holiday, perfect from the very start.

Overall, we had an average experience on our crossing from Wellington to Picton aboard the Kaitaki. Our experience boarding the ship was not great as we were led from the overcrowded terminal outside to wait in the rain for at least 15 minutes before we could board. The ride across the strait was pretty bad as the seas were rough... More

We travelled from Wellington to Picton two days before the major earthquake. Everything was great and we appreciated the comfort, service and awesome views. We were so sorry for the terrible damage to Wellington that took place just days later. Although we were in Christchurch during the earthquake, we were so lucky not to have our travel affected, like so... More

In summary: A chaotic arrival at Wellington Ferry Terminal due to morning rush hour traffic, poor signage in the the immediate vicinity of the terminal, lack of return car spaces, no car hire company representatives available. Good check-in,baggage deposit service and passenger boarding arrangements. On board the standard breakfast quality was poor as was the layout of the servery whereby... More

We took the ferry from Wellington to Picton in November. It was a fabulous ride. Beautiful scenery, comfortable seating, plenty of outdoor viewing for everyone. Definitely worth upgrading to Premier cabin. They served a great breakfast and later, a morning tea which were included in the fare. Worth it...very good. Also beverages provided throughout the journey.

Where to start.... I guess at the beginning is a good place so Que up an hour before the listed departure time only to sit there to past the original departure time before we start to role on. By the time all cars are on and we leave Picton we are over 45min late and this is despite the fact... More

The boat itself is one of the nicest ferries I've been on, but I also had the most perfect day to ride the ferry. We even saw dolphins. So the 5 stars is kind of bias on the fact it wonderful on a perfect day

Took the Interislander across from Wellington to Picton to launch a trip round the top of the South Island. Trip both ways was superb - was so calm and scenic that the trip went by rather quickly. Premium Plus lounge is worth it - quiet and relaxing + free food and drink. Took a car across and back - no... More

The extra cost of the Premium a Plus lounge is worth it for the peace and the great cooked breakfast and the mid morning snacks.

After experiencing the earthquake effects in Wellington it was great to cross and stay at Picton without shaking. The boat was great although no walk on passengers were allowed on as no jetty. The plus lounge was great. All the food and drink you need. Breakfast was great. As it rained all the way we did not get to see... More

that I spent much of the journey throwing up! That'll teach me to pig it & have a big breakfast cooked by uncle H, & a pint, & more food as soon as I got on the ferry. It was fine, but probably would've been much pleasanter if the weather had been good. I was only on here as Bluebridge... More
