Four 65 plus couples were shuttled from Eastbourne too Wharekauhau with our E bikes, by an amazing young man called Tony. Thank you, you made 8 older people very happy! We had riden from Wharekauhau, which had taken us longer than we had thought, because the first 11km were mostly push a bike. We had a wonderful day, thank you again Tony!

Easy ride and beautiful scenery on the old Rimutaka Cycle Trail, lots of historic stops and information on early life up in the Rimutaka’s and some of the engineering feats that went into constructing the railway.
In particular fantastic service from Alex and Pete who went above and beyond with my last min booking (literally 4:30pm the afternoon before) and to help me get there and back (as Metlink had some service replacements).
From Kaitoke, you need a car to get to the starting point. I recommend checking the train is running if you want to start at Maymorn and if not see if the Wildfinder team can help 👍

Right from the start everything went smoothly. Pete picked us up from Top 10 Seaview(where you can leave your car for $10 per day)on time. We had hired e-bikes...just because:)Bikes were great, the sun was shining as we rode away from Days Bay, a perfect start to set the tone for our whole trip. Accommodation ranged from place to place, it was all clean and safe and secure, and for us, we found it to be excellent. With our bags being picked up and dropped at next destination, we were able to gather trinkets, stones and driftwood along the way. All meals were supplied, plus an after-ride snack box, everyday! The trails were great, the 'incline' was awesome, not so much the swing bridge for me, it was pretty windy up there and it took more than one attempt for me to cross it. There was more road riding than I expected but it was all pretty good and we didn't feel unsafe. I did enjoy the ride out to Cape Palliser, especially the ruggedness of the coast on a windy day. Hats off to Dave, Pete and Isaac, thanks for kicking our year off with such a great tour and such super service!

We did the 2 day/1 night Remutaka Cycle Trail starting from Wellington CBD, taking the ferry across to Eastbourne where we were met by the friendly Isaac who explained the route over coffee at the pleasant beachside cafe. We discussed various start points and options to accommodate how long we wanted to ride for and when we wanted to reach our accommodation. Isaac was extremely accomodating and nothing was too much trouble over the 2 days. There were regular, but not intrusive, checkins, excellent route info/maps, comfortable accommodation and the food was delicious and plentiful.
We hired mountain bikes (one of which was electric so we could ride together due to our differing cycling abilities) and found them good quality and comfortable. The ride itself was great - plenty of beautiful scenery which was at times also wild and dramatic. The first day was easy and the first half of the second day was too. If you decide to do the full route and cycle from Ocean Beach to Orongorongo be prepared to push the bike through soft sand and shingle for lengthy stretches. The scenery on this part of the ride is fantastic as you are following the coast the whole way but that wind is very strong at times so be prepared to be stopped in your tracks while the wind does its thing.
We enjoyed this ride a lot and thought Wildfinder were excellent and professional operators. We highly recommend them.

The people at Wildfinder are exceptionally helpful. Not only did they help us with a last minute bike drop-off at Maymorn station but at the end of the day they offered to drop us off at a location on their way back and gave us additional suggestions of what to see and do. They truly went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our trip. Special shout out to Tony for his great banter on the bus back and to Peter for meeting us as Maymorn station with our bikes. When it came to the cycling experience itself, it was amazing. I was the most comfortable I've ever been on a bike and the e-bikes were a game-changer for a trail like this. I also loved the addition of the saddle bags for extra storage.

We did the 3 day all inclusive Rimutaka Cycle Tour with Wildfinder. Everything was very organised and well run. They picked us up from the ferry in days bay and gave us all our maps of everything we needed for the trip. All the accommodation they booked for us was great and the food was good too. The team at Wildfinder kept in touch with us the whole time and were all really helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our 3 day cycle trip and would highly recommend Wildfinder! Thanks again for everything.

The Wildfinder bike hire company, which has locations in and around Wellington, has a small location at the Remutake Rail Trail start. The young staffer was friendly and very knowledgeable. It was an overcast and potentially rainy day and we were on the verge of bagging the ride. He convinced us to get on the ebikes and go, and it was a great ride with typical New Zealand rail trail scenes (tunnels, swing bridges, gorges). The rain never came and we thoroughly enjoyed the ride (20km to the end and back).

Friends had organised for us and our bikes to be picked up and taken back to Petone once we completed the Remutaka Cycle Trail. We were picked up by Dave who welcomed us and set to loading our bikes insisting we just sit back and relax! Picking us up for the carpark rather than Featherston, as we had arranged, was no problem to Dave at all.
Dave is very personable and we easily chatted all the way to Petone. One couple of our group could not join us for the full trip due to cracked ribs. Dave waived their fee, which was most appraciated.

I did the Remutaka trail. Not as tough as I was expecting. A nice steady incline. Bush views and lots of historical things to look at. Tunnels and swing bridge make it a little bit different. Good down hill run and a small singletrack section at the end.
Wildfinder were excellent The bikes were good. Food and accommodation (at Featherston) excellent. As a solo rider I appreciated the GPS tracker. Isaac was great. So flexible with the arrangements to fit my time availability and the weather. From Siberia Tunnel I had rain, lightening and hail. I appreciated Isaacs pick-up at Cross Creek.
