Tea was served without milk quite disappointing. For $4.50 you would expect some milk to go with the tea. Lady who served us was away with the faries. Shop was disorganized. Staff pushy to sell the alcohol.

My husband and I stopped for some beeswax candles here and were delighted to discover all kinds of bee and mānuka honey products. We especially enjoyed the coffee and Kāpiti ice cream. A fire was blazing and it was a beautiful relaxing ambience that smelt of waxy honey.
On the way out I left my phone and wallet. Duh. I did not discover this until we were an hour away. I called the Hive shop and they assured me they had them, had bubble wrapped them, and would courier them to me free of charge as soon as possible. This happened and I am so grateful! Thank you Huka Honey Hive for your honesty and efficiency, and your support of the bees of course 🐝 🍯.

Huka Honey Hive, testers to try & smell: honey & bee-products, ointments fragrant aromas; mead, dark ales, delish creamy liqueurs to taste; transfixing watching live bees at work. Fun for kids & adults alike, cafe & icecreams. (I have gait/walking challenges (stroke), wear a legbrace.) After Huka Falls, worthwhile stop; product info beautifully presented – friendly attentive service, gifts shopping as well.

Just a wonderful experience, and so appealing to our group including three generations. LOVED the wonderful information we got from Jill, the amazing facility, and of course the experience of meeting the bees up close (and protected). Jill even followed up with a text message later with the answer to a curly question our curious 9 year old served up - incredible.

The place where you can find a lot of varieties of Honey! You can even taste them before you buy and the staff explains the difference of their range. Lots of other things to buy like hand creme, soap, vitamins, liquors, and all of them were made from..Honey.
There’s also a bee farm outside but we haven’t got enough time to visit the bees.
Recommended to have 2hr for this place so you can enjoy an hour for Honey shopping, maybe 30mins at the bee farm, and the last 30mins possibly to relax and eat ice cream.

There are a number of interesting things to do around the Huka Falls and it's worth stopping at this attraction for a few minutes. It's a combination of educational facility and retail outlet. Lot's of cute products and interesting information - and a whole wall of bees to inspect.

The big display of live bees was cool. I think my wife and I found the queen, who is larger and brighter than the other bees and jiggles her hind end a lot. Don’t worry if you’re like me and hate honey or are an inpatient husband because there are areas to sit and wait, and I even bought and wrote out a postcard to my nephew even though he’s still illiterate. Great place
if you’re a fan of medieval beverages because I’ve never seen so much mead in all my life. Also, there’s a helicopter nearby that looks like the Soviet ones shot down by the titular hero in Rambo III.
Good attraction, well themed and maintained.

Was surprised by the amount of options of honey and can taste them too. Lovely shop with other products to purchase also from hand lotion to mead. Great variety. Didn't try the icecream sadly as I was ushered out the door before I bought more stuff 😂, have to pop back in next time to try it. Loads of parking .

Thank you so much for the great review! We're really 'buzzed' to hear that you had such a good visit to Huka Honey Hive! We certainly have a big range of all things honey and bees! But you'll definitely have to come back for an ice cream - 16 bee-utiful flavours to choose from - but Honey and Fig is the all-time favourite! :-)

This is a great place to understand bees and boy does it have an amazing selection of product. It is not only a retail store but it is informative and you really feel as though you have learnt something after you leave. We tried some honey (yes there is free tasting) and we certainly bought some. There is also a good selection of alcoholic beverages for purchase. Staff are extremely helpful and courteous. What an asset to this area

A must do if you have small children - or simply love honey! A wonderful place with everything you could possibly want that involves honey - skincare, sweets, even gin! And lots of things to keep kids busy. Cute cafe has nice treats and drinks. Highly recommend!

Hi Maggie
yes, we have a live bee display where you can see inside the hives - it's amazing!
You can also view the hives in the garden from behind a glass viewing area.
Look forward to seeing you at Huka Honey Hive soon!
:-)

We sell gourmet ice creams from Kapiti (including delicious honey flavoured ones, of course!), fudges, nougats, chocolates and we serve great hot and cold drinks, however we do not have a full cafe on site :-)
