Highly recommend people to walk over to the thermal pools and soak themselves in. We arrived before noon time and it was packed with people. Remember to dress accordingly for soaking in the pool. It was an awesome experience.

Fantastic place for kids to play with so many different things they can do. The large "tree house" is great. Flying fox, gym equipment, sand playground, place for biking and skate boarding, walks gore and even a hot waterfall! Everything is here. picnic tables and a water fountain. One of our favourite places to go with kids in Taupo.

This was a quick walk from Taupo and a fun place to hang out with friends and meet backpackers. It was really crowded when we went, but that added to the fun place for young travelers to meet up.

We visited the Thermal pools only in a cool misty October day. They were wonderful, not very busy, and the pools were warm and inviting. We didn't have time to walk around the reserve and I would say that the pools are more of an adult attraction as children might get bored quite quickly

If you are travelling around New Zealand's North Island you will see a lot of signs for thermal spas dotted here and there. The majority are quite costly and will set you back at least $25NZD. Before you go and pay for a thermal spa experience take a trip to the Spa Thermal Park in Taupo. It's completely free and... More

Beautiful, 2 small pools, higher hotter than lower. in stream running into main river. Free. In public park. Easy parking. Go early in camper van, have breakfast in car park, go to pools. Be careful of main river - very strong currents, people have drowned.

Free walks, stunning views, free hot pools (be sure to come early, as the space is limited!). Just like another reality or the lost world. I would also recommend walking all the way to Huka Falls.

Beautiful park and lovely hot pools. Very popular though and so can be hard to get into. Good playground there as well. You can walk to Huka falls from here.
