Parking is a litle way away and there is a gentle walk down the hill to the spa. The place was buzzing with young people and they enjoyed bathing and boating. There is a coffee wagon there and toilets. We carrided on to the Huka Falls after that.

Didn't find this place easily even with google directions, but it is in a park by a cafeteria. Natural hot spring water flowing from rocks into a pool by the lake. Very relaxing standing under the flow of warm water in a pool of warm water. Worth looking for.

We were a couple of families with teenagers and we absolutely loved our visit to the thermal hot spa. It is a free activity and whist it is a walk there and back - around 5-6 minutes downhill to get there it took a lot longer uphill to return to our car. There is a change room at the bottom of the hill so walk to the river and change when you get there and there is also toilets. You have to be careful to get in as there are plenty of rocks in the water so be careful walking and swimming in the spa pool. We climbed in from the grassed area to the left hand side and you can then swim arund to the spa area. It was so wonderful for us to sit under the hot water falling down the rocks as well as the small pools or just sitting on a rock and enjoying the hot water. Getting out you also need to be careful due to the rocks but they have wooden platforms to climb out which is must easier just take your time when getting out. Highlight recommend this thermal spa it was a great highlight of our holiday which we all enjoyed.

Hiked from Spa Thermal Park to Huka falls and total took 1.5 hour round trip (6km). Start point was Spa thermal park car park. Walked a little to Geothermal pool. It is small but very nice and is free for a soak but don’t expect hot water, more like warm water. The park actually has changing room so is convenient if someone wants to go for a swim/ soak in the warm water pool. The hike itself is an easy walk involving gentle slopes and is peaceful walk. Huka Falls is more like a rapids, so have the appropriate expectation.

This was a wonderful experience. Even the rain did not put us off and we tried all pools and got to know some lovely people. People did distance as much as they could. Cost of $25 was worth the time and very relaxing. Although the have a bond fee on the towels and lockers u did get it back, some people do forget the they have them. Staff were very helpful and kept and eye on everyone via camera's. Every enjoyed being there.

Well laid out scenic reserve adjacent to Waikato River, with warm thermal water pools .......flowing into Waikato River. So you get both a warm thermal soak, and a cold fresh water river swim....and all for free!.
Clean toilets and changing facilities on site.........also a cafe selling drinks and ice creams, etc managed by the really friendly and helpful Kirby!

Visited the thermal soaking pools just over 2 years ago when last in New Zealand and enjoyed it more than Kerosene Creek near Rotorua. This time we found the Taupo facility has since been cleaned up and improved with change rooms and toilets right at the pools. Highly enjoyable

What an amazing view and clean public facilities as usual. The coffee shop offers an excellent service. However if you travel for the thermal pool experience please don't come here specially in Winter time. It will be a waste of time - Heard the local council diverted the hot springs - anyone can confirm this?

Why pay to go to the hot pools when this get little hot pool situated right on the Waikato river is available for free. Sit in the hot pool then move into the river to cool down then back up into the hot pools for reheating. Get views of the river and surrounding area.

Truly beautiful spot. It has recently had some upgrades to it, and has pretty good facilities for changing. There is also a small cafe on site. The river is pretty dangerous, so you need to keep an eye on little ones. It has a couple of lovely warm pools, but every time we come it is quite busy. We tried to bring our 7-month-old here for the first time but it was too busy for us to take her for a little dip. The scenery is gorgeous though, and there are beautiful trails to hike.

Anyone know where you can hire an inflatable/dinghy to float down? Thank you!

Can anyone recommend a naturally beautiful area for our campervan that has bathroom facilities (other than the normal campgrounds in Taupo - we are wanting something quite special between Taupo/Turangi/Rotorua for next year. Thank you.
