Great to be able to enjoy the hot springs without paying anything for the privilege. Look out for the second hot pool a few yards behind the first; most people miss it so you can usually have it to yourself.

Go early and avoid the crowds. I can imagine it isn't half as beautiful when tour buses arrive (and we heard they do)! Hot springs, followed by splashes in the Waikato River.

We walked from the park, past the hot springs where many people were bathing. It takes about 1.5 hours return walk to Huka falls which is a great walk. Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs as there are quite a few steep hills to climb up and down. Fantastic views of the river for most of the way. Quite shady... More

The view of the river and all the greenery make Spa Park very restful. Great place for a picnic and just to enjoy nature. Didn't have a swim this time but other people were. Went to the small hotpot where the hot water comes down the stream, but it was too hot for me.

We have visited Taupo many times but I had not heard of this place until yesterday. We went for a visit and it is well worth it. The park is really nice and we had a picnic near the playground. Nice bathroom facilities as well. When we visited it was busy also in the river but a friendly atmosphere. The... More

Highly recommend people to walk over to the thermal pools and soak themselves in. We arrived before noon time and it was packed with people. Remember to dress accordingly for soaking in the pool. It was an awesome experience.

Fantastic place for kids to play with so many different things they can do. The large "tree house" is great. Flying fox, gym equipment, sand playground, place for biking and skate boarding, walks gore and even a hot waterfall! Everything is here. picnic tables and a water fountain. One of our favourite places to go with kids in Taupo.

This was a quick walk from Taupo and a fun place to hang out with friends and meet backpackers. It was really crowded when we went, but that added to the fun place for young travelers to meet up.

We visited the Thermal pools only in a cool misty October day. They were wonderful, not very busy, and the pools were warm and inviting. We didn't have time to walk around the reserve and I would say that the pools are more of an adult attraction as children might get bored quite quickly
