Wairakei Terraces is a delightful and relaxing set of thermal/mineral pools, set in green surroundings where birds are in the trees all around. The pools vary in temperature and you can easily move between them depending how warm you like your soaking experience. The age...More

Loved this place and would come back again. We had a two for one ticket so well worth it - otherwise seem a bit pricey especially as the walk is a separate price. Girl on the desk was a bit bored with the spiel when...More

Beautiful place for a hot swim, unfortunately the two times I’ve been there the Maori janitor has been extremely rude and obnoxious so watchout for him!

We did a quick stop off on the road and thought the short walk was lovely. I looked at the pools and they looked so inviting I just wanted to jump in- will be returning for a lovely swim at some point.

Fabulous pools with beautiful surroundings! We went at dusk which was lovely. Very well maintained pools and the staff were so friendly and informative. Will go here every time I'm in Taupo from now on.

A beautiful setting nestled amongst trees. The pools range in temp and you can sit up along the sides of the pool. Can get really hot so would recommend taking a plastic bottle of water (nothing else is allowed in the pools). Also take jandals/flip...More

I would say that this is not suitable for a picnic. The area is cpmpact, grassy areas are not accessible as they are close to a very hot stream. This is a quiet adult only place to relax in the water.
