The lake is a great place for a leisurely stroll after breakfast....which is exactly what we did. Lots to do nearby. Not necessarily a must-see....but it is hard to miss!!

We enjoy strolling at the lakefront, having coffee by the lake, enjoying the view and people watching. There are a lot of water activities too.

If you stay in rotorua you cannot miss this lake. if you drive around or out of Rotorua you will see the Lake. The frist time when we entered Rotorua seeing the smoke coming out of the Lake and from the rain/drain holes from the street was beautiful. We have not seen something like this before. However due to the... More

The lake has a panoramic view with a mountain top backdrop. It's definitely worth a photo. If you have a family, the park on the lakefront would be a nice place for a picnic, but apart from that, there isn't much to do on the actual waters edge. So, 15-30min max is all you need to take a few good... More

Steam rises unexpectedly from streams and watercourses, small holes in the ground and even cracks in the road. Houses and hotels often have their own thermally heated water and there is a pervasive, but... More

Lake Rotorua is the lake on the shores of which the beautiful surreal town of Rotorua is built. There are walkways along the lake shore from near Eat Street to the back of the Rotorua Museum (maybe elsewhere too, I didn't explore beyond this due to time constraints). The walk I did passed through a lovely little forest filled with... More

So much to photograph, the activities of the paddle wheeler, the float plane, the helicopter, the Zorbs. Or get up early to photograph the sunrise over the simmering waters.
