We visited the Maori Experience in Rotorua yesterday. It was a very educational and entertaining experience. The history and culture of the Maori people is fascinating. The on stage show was excellent, but I expected it to last longer, with a little more information about the Maori history in dance, and it's place in their history. The dancers and singers... More

This was an excellent night which gave an insight into Maori culture. It was explained how they meet and greet people and the put on a great show of their traditional dancing. You got an opportunity to go on stage and learn the huka. We were shown how they cook meals and then we were served a meal after the... More

The carvings were just phenomenal. My biggest regret is that I didn't buy a lovely framed artwork there at the center. The price was actually more reasonable there at the... More

This was a highlight of our three week tour of both islands. Our guide, Ho, was lovely and funny too and made the experience even more enjoyable. There's so much going on here: performances, demonstrations of craft at the actual school, food, wildlife and the geyser! We really enjoyed learning more about Maori culture and greatly appreciated the friendliness and... More

This is a must when in Rotorua. It really helps you understand and appreciate the Maori culture. The Hangi Feast is really a fun experience.

The Maori Arts and Craft Institute is worth a visit, you see young me learning wood carving by master carvers and women weaving.
