Tamaki Maori Village – Evening Cultural Experience. New Zealand’s Most Awarded Cultural Experience! Experience an evening of ceremonial ritual, powerful cultural performance, storytelling & hangi feasting. Share in the Powhiri, our ancient ceremony of welcome before entering our pre-European Maori Village nestled within a native Tawa Forest. The village comes alive with sights, sounds & activity of days gone by including haka, poi, tattooing, weaving, carving and arts of warrior training. You will have the opportunity to participate in these activities. Witness the earth being scraped away from the hangi pit to reveal baskets of food cooked beneath the ground on hot stones. Enter the ancestral meeting house and enjoy a powerful cultural performance before dining the traditional hangi buffet feast!

This was a excellent night. It gave you a insight to the traditional Maori life and the staff were extremely friendly. The performances were well done and the Hangi food was amazing with plenty on offer for all.

We experienced the evening show and dinner, came because we had some overseas visitors and were showing them around. The experience was fantastic from the pickup at our motel, to the welcome, cultural shows and hangi dinner. What a great concept!

There are so many places in and around Rotorua and we have been to them all. Tamaki Maori Village has to be the most organised, professional experience we have ever attended in New Zealand. For the price of a ticket, we left feeling overwhelmed.

It was an amazing cultural experience, very organized, awesome interactions and food. Only thing I would add is a space for women to dance too.

Best option is to stay a night or 2 in rotorua. You can fly up but probably cheaper to get a Mana or Intercity bus. They will pick you up from your accommodation in rotorua and drop you off after the performance.
