Stunningly absorbing, Tamaki Maori Village

The cultural experience that ticked all the boxes, friendly, in your face and personal. Our visit had us taste pre European village life for the Maori, habitat and food.

Bus travel is included and we were picked up from our hotel and entertained all the way to the village by the bus driver. From the very start it was entertaining and educational. As others have said, its great to see the Maori people taking such pride in their culture and the way they keep it alive. Hubby was chosen... More

I think this was one of the highlights of our trip! We had a really lovely evening at this venue, being taught by the Maori about various aspects of their history. Each group has to choose a chief from their number and he has to go through a welcoming ritual on our behalf before entering the village. This was followed... More

Not much Maori culture shown. village appears poor and very touristy. Masses of tourists for the show. Maori children diving into the river to catch coins tossed by tourists from the bridge is demeaning.

The people are INCREDIBLE! Learning about the Maori culture in this village was not only an awesome hands-on experience but very informative! My husband was elected Chief of our visiting tribe and it was so cute! He learned the Haka. It was such a wonderful experience, words cannot even describe it. The food was great too!! It is a MUST... Amazing over night stay at the Temaki village. The hospitality of the staff was incredible. The show itself was entertaining, informative and captivating. I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to learn so much about the Maōri culture. The food was so delicious - proper home cooked meal which was much needed after months travelling. Beds were comfortable,... More

Entertaining and educational Maori culture event. 3 hour went by very fast. The hangi meal was delicious. If you get picked as a chief of your group I suggest you to take it serious and try to follow all the instructions from your gide. This is really worth it.

We were expected more. The maori show is short and average. The dinner buffet had very limited options. It is far too expensive for what is offering.

Was a fun time, right from getting picked up by the bus at the hotel through the village tour, entertainment and dinner. It's great to see how proud the staff are of their traditions and culture. I am a terrible Haka dancer though.

A great place to learn about the Maori culture. We'd been to NZ before but found this to be much more informative than previous ones. We had fun from start to finish and came away feeling a love for the Tamaki tribe and their culture. Great entertainment, loved the singing and dances. The hungi meal was really well done and...
