Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were booked on the Elite EcoThermal Morning tour with scheduled stops at 2 thermal parks on March 21 2023.
We did not go to the thermal mud pools nor see Lady Knox Geyser erupt.
We were taken directly to Waimangu Volcanic Valley where we had a wonderfully extensive explained bus ride down to the lake. We took the Rotomahana Cruise out onto the lake to get closer looks at Mt. Tarewara, Starhill Crater and the Waimangu Geyser which erupted every 8-11 minutes that day:)
After taking the bus back up to the top, we started the 1hr walking tour back down the valley via well groomed paths. We got in much closer to various volcanic pools and our guide was very thorough. Thankfully we returned back to the visitor Centre via bus;)

Thanks for your review and we are glad you had a great time with us. Yes unfortunately Waiotapu has been closed for Wed/Thurs due to staffing issues for many months. This is why we do the boat trip on those days. We are pleased they are going to be open 7days starting next week. Thanks again for your wonderful review!

My husband and I had an awesome tour with Kay. Informative and friendly, she was everything you would want in a guide of these amazing geothermal formations and activity. Thanks for a wonderful conclusion to our NZ vacation.

We went on the full day Geothermal guided tour. Our tour guide Huru was so knowledgable about the geography and history of the area, with lovely stories of the Maori history and even a maori song. He was courteous and polite, we had a lovely day and I would definitely recommend this trip.

My husband and I have traveled extensively so we expected this tour to be similar to Yellowstone, in the US, or the geysers in Iceland. Not even close! The drama, past and present, really makes this tour unique. Our guide, Pat, was informative both on the drive to and from Wai-O-Tapu and the Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Best to wear walking shoes and if there is any suggestion of problems with walking, just take the shuttle bus to the bottom. Otherwise, it is spectacular; both sites have significant differences as far as smell and vegetation. Highly recommended!

Our family of three did the full day tour and Linda was our guide. We were fortunate to be the only ones on the bus that day so got a very personalized tour. The pacing of the day was relaxed but we saw everything we wanted and more. Linda was excellent in her knowledge of the area and the facts of the place, and presented them in a clear and entertaining way. She added a lot of local color about the area and New Zealand in general that we found very useful. Do not hesitate to book with them.

The highlight of Rotorua was this tour. With a small number in our group Trent took us on an adventure pointing out geo facts and figures as well as Maori background information that made me feel like we were the VIP's in the park.
Lively discussion and Trent's great sense of humor kept us entertained as well as informed. I took a ton of pictures. Just incredible, a photographer's paradise.
Thanks again Trent...Have a Coke and a Smile.

Kia Ora, Thank you for your fantastic review. Rotorua is a beautiful place full of many gems, from the champagne pool to inferno crater. We are over the moon to hear that our tour was a highlight of your time here in Rotorua. The convenience of small tour groups allows us to engage with everybody on the tour, a strength that our guides enjoy as well. We did the Eco Thermal Park tour which took us to both the Wai-o-tapu area with mud pools and hot springs as well as the Lady Know geyser. The tour of Wai-o-tapu was excellent because we got all kinds of information about the area and the traditional Maori culture. Huru, a native Maori, was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable, funny and kind. Definitely recommend this tour if you want to learn about and be absolutely fascinated by this area.

Trent was a talent, a pro and a great personality to work with from the start. As the go between him and my mum's numerous questions before our trip, I got frustrated with her indecision and multiple questions-- but Trent was patient and gave us great suggestions based on our wants- even though he could have made more money sending us on a private tour, he suggested we do a group tour- and then there was only one additional person on it.

We did the 1/2 day eco thermal tour and it was a great overview of the various parks. He included both geological history and Maori stories and context and clearly had a wealth of knowledge about the area and New Zealand as a whole. Some guides can parrot back what they've read in a book, but Trent's commentary and ability to answer questions insightfully demonstrates a true depth of understanding about a breadth of subjects. He also had a great sense of humor and was super patient looking after my 70 year old + mum and dad.

Can't recommend the trip more...

We hired Trent and Elite Adventures for a private 1/2 day tour for 4 people of the volcanic parks around Rotorua. We only had a day for this and wanted to make the most of it. Trent was a great guide, giving us loads of info on the areas we were visiting and his automobile was clean and comfortable. I don't think we could have seen or learned as much as we did without him. He even made an additional stop for us by request and without complaint (which took him a little over his half day mark). Highly recommended.

We were on a cruise and a limited time in Tauranga. Elite Adventures made our day seamless - we were picked up at the Port and hurried to make the Lady Knox Geyser eruption.. We made it with a few minutes to spare!! Robbie was an excellent tour guide - providing interesting facts and he really looked after us. We all enjoyed the day - morning in Waiotaupa and afternoon in Waimangu Volcanic Village. And back in Port to board our cruise ship in time.
Thanks Robbie for a great day.
