Me and My husband had booked us for a 3,5 day hiking tour with Walking Legends in the Tongariro National park. At 6 pm on our first night the group met up with our guide Chris. We had some pre-information on what to expect and routines for the upcoming hiking days together with some wine and cheeses. We turned out... More

The Lake Waikaremoana walk was amazing. Sam our guide was fantastic-- really patient and always looking out for the groups safety and enjoyment, so knowledgeable about the area, including the Maori legends, his passion for the whole experience was infectious. The walks and other activities were well thought through, with lots of nice touches and surprises. We had a really... More

The Waikaremoana Discovery adventure run by Walking Legends is absolutely brilliant. It would suit most age groups but our group was in the 50-70 year age range. You need a good level of fitness to be able to fully appreciate and participate, but that was not a problem for any in our group. The beauty of this trip was the... More

I recently completed the Walking Legends Bucket List trip, their 12 day tramp. I signed up for this trip as this was my 6th trip to New Zealand and I was looking for north island experiences that would be new for me. I live in Hawaii so am relatively close to New Zealand. My experience was great...days were well organized,... More

The Bucket List Tour is a concatenation of 3 separate Walking Legends 4-day trips, to Coromandel, Lake Waikaremoana, and Tongariro. Between each, you return to Rotorua for a night. The 3 components are of different character, and with each you meet a new group of folk doing just that component, and new guides. There is a lot of careful organisation... More

Took the three day Mt Tongariro Crossing tour. Friend organised and all I knew was great food supplied. Might have been the little expectation I had or maybe it was actually great - Guide (Zeb) brilliant...an actual wilder person! Refer film) , i could not have been with a better guide if anything were to go awry. My interests of... More

This tour, was well organized. The hikes and the accommodation were as indicated in the tour publicity. The two persons accompanying the participants were pleasant and efficient. They did whatever they could to ensure that arrangements worked out for the best. However they did not match the promise in the tour publicity of being "expert guides". They provided spasmodic, anecdotal... More

Thanks for taking the time to offer this constructive criticism. We will definitely discuss this with our guides. We have always promoted a relaxed and friendly atmosphere on our trips, as we believe it’s an inherent characteristic of Kiwi culture. This is reflected in our guides mannerisms. The majority of our clients really enjoy this approach, as shown in previous... More

An excellent walk with experienced and friendly guides. We were walking on the Tongariro 3.5 days hiking tour. Excellent accommodation, and well provisioned. The special dinner was great. The crossing itself is a solid walk, but well worth it.
