Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is not an attraction. This is a ridiculous waste of time. You have to park your car in the main lot and then you have to buy your tickets, get back in your car and park it again at the Geyser. Even if you bought a ticket online, you have to go back and get it validated at the main office. Not exactly eco-friendly. Then, you sit there and watch as someone pours soup into the geyser... It goes off for about 30 seconds to a minute and then everyone files out and rushes to their car so that they can get parking in the main lot (again). Save your time and just go to the rest of Wai-O-Tapu.

I have seen the geyser over a decade ago and was quite impressed with the presentation, explanation, stories, and the geyser itself shooting up water quite high. This lasted quite a while....second time around March 2020...The drive from Wai-O-Tapu to the geyser took longer than the geyser's "performance" itself. Sound system wasn't working too so we couldn't hear fr the back. Plus the presentation by the tour guide was definitely not what it used to be.

Overall, quite disappointed in this second visit. Waste of the $$$ I paid just for this "show". Photo attached show how "high" the water went up. I wonder why this time was such a fail?

We had never seen a geyser before so we were keen to see the Lady Knox geyser. The geyser was surrounded by sightseers. At the appoined time, a ranger gave s a short tallk, then poured something that appeared to be detergent into the geyser, After about five minutes the geyser erupted on cue. It was quite spectacular, but we felt a bit cheated.

The Lady Knox Geyser is near Rotorua. Being Aussies, we had never seen a geyser -- this one even erupted on time! As it turned out, they add detergent so the geyser can perform for the spectators. We were a little disappointed.

The blurb says that the geyser blows every day at 10:15 so be there early. Like many others we were early. By 10:20 nothing had happened then a young woman (? Ranger) appeared, told a tale she probably tells every day then threw in a handful of detergent. So we saw a geyser about six feet high for a few seconds & that was it.
The walk around the area was good but the people responsible for this should be ashamed.

Lady Knox Geyser erupts at 10:15 AM daily...but not without the help of a park employee who dumps detergent in it. After having seen Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park (USA)...a huge geyser that erupts on schedule, without human assistance... this tiny manipulated eruption was disappointing, to say the least. I'm glad we didn't have to pay a separate fee to see it. However, the rest of the Wai-o-tapu geothermal park was definitely worth the price of admission.

Did this as part of our entrance into wai-o-tapu and was very dissapointed. After travelling from the main park by car and having to re park the car to watch the show which lasted about a minute then get back in to our car and join the queue of cars going back to main park where we parked up again to do the walks. Skip the show and just do the walks.

Don't waste your time. More excitement watching water come out of your garden hose.Getting tickets and parking a real joke and totally unorganised. Suggest you allow at least 30mins to and hour to sort buying tickets, finding a park and then the walk to the Geyser site. That is if you want to waste your time.

This place is pure P.T. Barnum … a scam … the so-called geyser that “erupts” everyday at 10:15 a.m. is artificially induced by an employee pouring a basket of powdered laundry detergent into the spout (no joke - check it out on Wikipedia). The only reason to drive into the park area are the mud baths which are free and a turn off of the rod before you get to the park entrance. In fact the clerk at the check-in said “oh yeah those mud baths are better than the ones in the park “ s e your money this place is definitely not worth the expense.

They had to put soap in it to get it to go. Walking through the park was interesting but very expensive. Parking was horrible and spent about forty minutes in the car going from car park a to car park b to see the geyser
