The setting is simply stunning. The Harbour itself didn't really have much to offer than a large information site for activities.

After a full-on day diving my friend and I walked to the harbour for dinner. After refuelling on fish and chips we went for a wander. The harbour had a great atmosphere, with just the right amount of people around. The highlight had to be walking along the pier/jetty area and seeing a huge manta ray swim on by. We... More

We took the opportunity to go on a 4 hr dolphin cruise and trip of the harbour. Beautiful day with what turned out to be wonderful weather. We had a ball. Found dolphins after 2 hours - but well worth it. We loved the experience. (Don't forget to take a jacket - the breeze can be a little chilly)

The trip across the harbour to Russell is definitely a must do experience. We caught the fast ferry over and a slower one back. Definitely worth it.

Unfortunately for the locals there was a power cut due to vandals when we visited from our cruise ship so it made life difficult for them. We did enjoy the local craft markets and although we had to pay with cash we managed to find a sandwich for lunch from a local bakery.

It is delightful to wander round this little harbour, lots of bustle and activity. There is a good choice of bars and eateries around it. There is even a helicopter pad , for trips over the bay. There plenty of boats for tours round the bay and ferries over to Russell

The whole harbour area of Paihia is a delight to wander around. There is plenty to see, there is a real bustle about the place and you will be well entertained.
