Welcome to Horse Trek'n. We have a brand new team of very dedicated young ladies this season, ready to take you on an unforgetable adventure. All rides are now split between different riding ablities, so if you are a genuine experienced rider, we garanty you'll have a fabulous experience. Our horses are well trained and take part in our riding school, jumping and dresage, as well as trail riding. For experienced riders, we recommend you try our full day trek so you get a chance to swim with your horse, but if you only have half a day, the volcano ride will offer you fabulous 360 views of the Bay of Islands and the Waitangi Forest. See you soon!

Our 16yr old daughter did a horse trek with Emma. The original route was too boggy, so they did some ringwork before heading on a ride around the farm. The ringwork was most enjoyable for her, & Emma was very friendly & knowledgeable. She enjoyed it immensely and would like to recommend this activity to others. Our GPS had no... More

Thank you so much for your feed-back. We are having a bit of a difficult time as our main access to enter the forest is closed due to logging, and our back-up entrance to the forest at the back of the farm gets boggy very quick in wet weather... hence we may have to do alternative rides through the farm... Initial booking was a little tricky, as the website is a little old. After that we had a great 2 hours out with Emma our guide. We were lucky enough to be the only 2 on that trek. Unfortunately my horse got a little stroppy, managing to rip off a stirrup, but Emma handled it really professionally and efficiently. She... More

Very tricky to find- GPS struggled. However, horses were well tempered and happy to trot (cantering was not appropriate for the terrain) to the top of an old volcano for a magnificent view. Hard hats were available. We did am only, but if we’d had more time would have loved a full day.

When I arrived 30 mins before my departure time for the two hour trek, no-one was there, no person, no horse in sight. After ten minutes, a lady came over and asked if I had booked in for a horse trek. I told her my name, and said I booked it online last week. She thought I was coming tomorrow.... More

First of all, New Zealand is just the most beautiful place on earth, period. My full day horse trek was easily the best day of my 3 week Australia/New Zealand trip. I have been around horses for most of my life, but rarely get to ride my 2 hunter/jumpers outside an arena. Like some other reviewers have commented, we regular... More

We were late arriving as we had got very lost trying to find the place. The map on the brochure was very small, and we had no satnav. However, once we got there we were soon matched up with our horses and off for the day. We spent about four or so hours in the saddle trekking through the lovely... More

My wife and I had a great trail ride, (horse Trek) going up to the volcano at Ta Puke. The girls guiding were very knowledgable and patient with all riders. The horses were very well behaved. Anyone going to Paihia must definitely take in a trek. Just reminded of all the riding we used to do years ago. Will definitely... More

I booked a full day trip, and had one of the best days of my trip to New Zealand, and my best ride since reluctantly selling my own horse 8 years ago, when I moved abroad. I can be quite hesitant to join riding treks because, as an experienced rider who spent 20 years riding and training horses, I don't... More

Whao! Cynthia, this is the best feedback we've ever had. Not only you've taken the time to describe your adventure but you've helped us explain why we have strict guidelines for the different levels of riding. Houdini and Sheekhan have been working with us for 9 years. To see how they still love it is their testimony to us getting... More

I am an experienced rider and this outfit caters to us. They also do beginner rides which are fantastic. I would definitely put this on your list of things to do in the north if you enjoy horseback riding.

Friendly guides & horses. A lovely trip up the volcano. We are beginner horse riders & felt safe the whole time. The even let me borrow some boots because all I had was socks & jandals!
