So nice to walk along in the hot weather. My children loved the fountain and pebbly beach. Not a huge amount of shade in large parts so make sure you wear sunblock and hats.

We have been to so many beach areas where the hotels and resorts dominated the waterfront. Napier is so different. The entire waterfront area is a park open to the public. Playgrounds, picnic areas, parks, and other public areas all are available on the Marine Parade. We thought it was great.

Marine Parade runs along the waterfront at Napier. It is bursting with things to see such as the flower gardens, Sound Shell and fountains. It is a must do walk when in Napier and a credit to the local council.

The waterfront pathway is currently under construction and made it difficult for us to push a pram along, but with some mild off-roading and bouncing around in the pram our boy made it to the other end unscathed. It was a bit cold today for us to stop at the playground but it looked fantastic fun, fully fenced to add... More

An enjoyable & interesting walk along the Parade for all ages Enjoy the viewing platform, take the children to the playground and bike track while you sit, watch and have a coffee. Or walk down to the national aquarium. Building in progress beside the walk way at the moment so be aware

Right along the water side the pathway is suited to walking, running or bike riding. You can stop off to see the pier, grab an ice cream or just sit & take in the views. Ideal for families too.

At the time I visited (Oct 2016) there was quite a bit of upgrade work being done between the road & the sea, so it made what would usually be a very lovely walk a little more challenging. That said, it's a 'must do' when you are in Napier: go to the iSite/Information Centre, head out to the sea &... More
