This is a 4.5 km round trip, there are so many wading birds to watch, on a full tide you can see small crabs going about their business

40 mins walk around the estuary. Great. Nice easy walk, lots of things to look at and beautiful scenery. I used to walk here daily and never tired of it. Family friendly dogs okay but only on a lead as it is a conservation area....More

Nature enthusiasts will love this easy walk around the estuary, highlighting the gorgeous birds, nature and wildlife along the way. Its got boardwalks and can get fairly busy. Wear some walking shoes as there are parts that require it and remember your sunscreen as it...More

The walk is an easy stroll on formed paths around the Ahuriri Estuary. It's a lovely stroll, with plenty of country views and wildlife, the only downside being the one part of the walk past the back end of some factory units and the container...More

This walk is ok, probably more interesting for those with children or dogs or for those with an interest in wetland/mangrove-type habitats. If you walk it in summer on a sunny day be sure to wear sunscreen as there is no shade/shelter. Also, don't make...More

This walk was quite underwhelming for us, maybe I expected too much after the reading the reviews.. We found the start of the walk to be quite off putting, and the actual walk and views to be pretty lacking. This felt like we were walking...More

Although the paths were excellent, the walk was basically around the estuary viewing some birds along the way. Wasn't really impressed but if you need to get out of the car and stretch, this would be a good location for a quick walk to stretch...More

Walking the Ahuriri Estuary is great exercise and a most interesting place with all the birdlife along the way. Easy paths and wooden walkways over the wet areas, dogs welcome but always on a lead please.

This is great to walk around with your family or friends. Beautiful scenery and is close to lots of cafes and restaurants! Watch out for the odd cyclist who can't read and the irresponsible dog owners who let their dogs off their leash....
