Well, I think the above title says it all! Millton winery is a well-established producer of fine wines. They were among the earliest - if not the premier producer of organic wines - but don't drink the wines for that. Drink them because they are fabulous. After very generous tastings, we sat in the lovely courtyard and enjoyed beautiful platters... More

I expected the usual... A quick tasting of whatever was on offer, buy a bottle or two and go on our merry way. This turned out to be a 2 1/2 hour journey through James and Annie's passion about wine and biodynamic wine production through the eyes of Simon. We even had a quick tour of the facility. But this... After visiting quite a few vineyards all over NZ, this gem is a must! We got to sample 6 beautiful wines. The Chenin blanc was the nicest I've ever had and we finished with a desert wine, a 1998 vintage!! I think what topped our visit was the impromptu guide of the vineyard, production and warehouse, that we didn't even... More

We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon for a tasting session. Simon greeted & made us feel very welcome. He was full of interesting information on the production of these fine wines. Milton Vineyard is a place of depth & character their approach on Biodynamic farming, coupled with their philosophy for quality was both refreshing and an invigorating experience. Highly recommend... Lovely setting and surprising selection of varieties. Reisling, Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc.....all good! Price per bottle is reasonable.

A beautiful setting vineyard, close to Gisborne . Good selection of wines for tasting and a free glass is included in the $5 tasting fee. Loved the Reisling and will be buying more of it!

A cute vineyard with a personable and very friendly host for the wine-tasting. Also, some cracking wines on offer! Millton has been an organic vineyard for the last 30 years, so they really know their stuff. Note that only a light snack is available to purchase, but people are welcome to bring their own picnics to eat beneath the trees.

Stopped here on a whim after seeing the vineyard sign on side of the road as we headed into Gisborne. On holiday from US in a camper van. Very quaint and charming inside the cellar door tasting room, we had a French young man guide us through the first half of our tasting of 6 wines. Very knowledgable and friendly,... More

A great afternoon enjoying the sunshine and wine tasting, order one of the platters and enjoy a bottle of wine in the beautiful garden, taste the winery's hand picked olives with the cheese platter. Best Organic vineyard.

After tasting and then buying 7 (!) bottles of their delicious, biodynamic wines my wife and I sat under the walnut trees with two glasses of Chardonnay. There we sampled a glorious platter of local cheeses, salamis, pâté, olives and chutney. We were gloriously looked after in the tasting room by Nico while his partner Chloe assembled our platter: two... More
