Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just across the road from my hotel (Auckland Rose Park) were the gorgeous Nancy Steen Heritage Rose Gardens. The gardens are full of roses of all shades and colours – red, orange, yellow, white, pink, you name it. The garden beds are well kept and are regularly tended by funded workers who keep the gardens immaculate and the green lawns perfectly trimmed. I spent 10-15 minutes walking through the gardens twice during my stay taking photos, getting swept away in the beauty of the gardens, and literally smelling the roses. I felt like I was in an old English heritage garden owned by Queen Elizabeth herself. Just gorgeous and totally worth a visit.

Went through in about 5-10 minutes. Lots of people taking pictures and I thought I would enjoy it more. The seems to be lots of road parking, but could not see a bigget car park, but that does not mean there is not one.

Wonderful time to visit at present with so many roses out. The sight and fragrance of so many of the roses like bathing in perfume. No wonder there was so much birdsong.
Easy access and definitely worth a visit.

Many kinds of roses. Took lots of pictures. Interesting fountains and arches and trees. One tree in yard to side had many branches that ran almost horizontal with the ground and was huge. My husband stood in the middle of it and it was hard to find him.

Lovely setting unfortunately due to time of year roses weren't out. Restaurant and staff were lovely but sadly it lacked atmosphere. The china cups were great but the rest of the china was boring. Not elegant at all. Good selection of food and very fresh. Better places around Auckland for High Tea.

Nice place to go for walk or run. It has so many variations of roses. It is very relaxing and peaceful there. If you take the hop on and hop off bus you can get off at the rose garden. This is one of the

This is just a plain vanilla rose garden with some unique NZ varieties. There is nothing spectacular about it. The gardens were well tended to. This is one of the hop on hop off bus stops.

A nice spot to walk around and smell the extensive collection of roses. Worth a visit when the roses are in full bloom.

We enjoyed our stroll through this garden. I believe it's posted that there are over 500 varieties of roses. I didn't count them, just enjoyed them. We walked up and down and criss crossed every aisle. We found the garden to be well maintained. Surprisingly, it's a nice setting in a residential area, without a fence to secure the area. There were only 2 other people there while we were there.
Normally, a yellow rose is my favorite, until I saw the "Tequila Sunrise" variety. That is now my favorite.

This is a beautiful place to visit especially when the Roses are in full bloom. The varieties are amazing and the peace and tranquility of the Garden is wonderful.. Should you desire a cup of Tea/Coffee it is right nearby.

We visited the garden in February and took the bus. Here's some of what I wrote on my review of Parnell Gardens:
There is no admission to visit these gardens from sunrise to sunset; they are in a public park. The gardens were easy to reach with bus #703 ($3.50) at bus stop 7028 from the CBD at Commerce and Fort Street. This bus stops right in front of the garden as does the bus that returns to the CBD. We visited for about 45 minutes in order to catch the bus on its return to the city.
The bus stop was easy to find in both locations. Google maps is excellent in pinpointing the exact location of the bus stops. You can find the bus schedule on the Auckland transportation website to minimize waiting at the bus stop.
The Auckland War Memorial Museum is excellent and worth a few hours. It is located in park like setting. The greenhouse (Winter Garden) was a nice diversion after our visit. We used the public bus to get to this museum as well. Use google maps to find the bus number opposite the attraction you want to visit. Then research its schedule and route on the Auckland transportation system.
Taking the public bus is much cheaper than HOHO bus, especially if there are 2 of you.

Hi, how would the park be in August? Any flowers? Worth visiting?
Written 8 May 2017
There will be some flowers in August, - it is the end of winter in Auckland, so they won't be at their best. The gardens are still worth a visit.
Enjoy

Written 8 May 2017
Wouldn't be much to see as it's middle of winter and the plants and roses are dormant.

When is the best month to visit this garden/roses in full bloom? Thank you.

Spring time in Auckland October onwards.
