A city with not many outstanding buildings, this is one not to be missed
Oct. 2019
Lovely church full of history and character and now overshadowed by it's newer and larger cousin the Cathedral. Check the opening hours as it relies on volunteers, so may not always be open. Try and find the Mouseman mouse on the pulpit and the owl watching from the rafters. A very peaceful place

Historic Wooden Church
Feb. 2019 • Couples
As the history goes, the Anglican diocese wanted to replace the wooden church & build a new one. It is the largest wooden gothic church in the world. Fortunately it was saved & physically moved in the 1980’s

Auckland Cathedral: A must see.
Jan. 2019 • Couples
We took a two day pass on the hop-on hop-off bus and looked at the map to decide which places to visit. We were ambivalent about stopping at the Cathedral but decided to do so. What a mistake it would have been to miss these two churches. The interior of the older one is completely built of a dark wood and is utterly beautiful. I have never seen anything like it before. It also has an interesting history in that it was first constructed across the road and then was moved without taking it apart to the current site next to the new cathedral. The cathedral is in two parts, one gothic, the nave and then the newer auditorium which has some beautiful stained glass windows, one side of Old Testament stories in a Maori style and the other New Testament, more traditional. The main window above the front entrance is stunning and don’t forget to go to the back of the cathedral where there is a chapel whose three outside walls and the ceiling are of glass, giving the feeling of being in the open air. In fact the cross behind the altar is indeed in the garden, not within the church.

The Old Wooden Church
Jul. 2018 • Couples
A lovely old wooden church, with a lot of history dating back to the 1800,s, in tip top condition a wonderful venue for a wedding. Although it shares the same space with the Holy Trinity Cathedral, it stand proudly and the warden who showed us around was a lovely lady , who made the vist very interesting and enjoyable.

Beautiful wooden church
May 2018 • Couples
This wooden church build in 1895 is in a pristine state.
In 1982 the church was moved in one piece from across the road to its present position and is today incorporated as part of the Trinity Cathedral.

Beautiful wooden church
Apr. 2018
This magnificent wooden church was ised to be the Cathedral Church of the Diocese before the Holy Trinity Cathedral was built. When the title was transferred to Holy Trinity Cathedral, the entire wooden church was moved from the opposite side of the road to its existing location, within Holy Trinity Cathedral churchyard. Worth a visit.
