Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cosy place giving a feeling of old times and very friendly staff. A big variety of different wines at various prices which they generously let you taste from, both local and from other districts in NZ. impossible not to buy some! They also sold good wine (not their own I think) for awareness of the protection of the kauri trees.

We are regulars to Coopers Creek, a quick 30min drive out of Auckland, grab a bottle of wine and a cheese board and get away from the phones the TV and rat race for a couple of hours......

So run down, what a disappointment. My friend and I stopped in for a wine tasting an perhaps a light snack. On arrival the gardens are run over by weeds, the entrance is tired. The wine tasting room is full of crap, watering cans, old signage and has not been cleaned in ages. The tables shoved together. The lady seemed unhappy to have to serve us and rushed us through the tasting.
It was $10 per head for tasting but on the upside at the very end she kindly only charged us for per person not two because we didn't try the reds which was kind.
Nothing to eat at all as they were having a private function but it wasn't clear if this was always the case or if they did offer food on other days. We headed to The Hunting Lodge where they found us a seat outside and we had an amazing little snack starter. Check out that review if you are interested.

Staff were reluctant to spend time or energy on us and appeared grumpy and distracted. Despite that we did purchase a Chardonnay and felt it was good value and reasonably well made. The Reds were less to our liking. Overall an unhappy visit for us.

I must say after visiting so many other places in the region, I was very disgusted and disappointed with the service at this place. We came for some wine tastings and were made to feel like we were a nuisance and annoying. The man who served us was rude, made no attempt to explain about the wines and just stood there with a blank look on his face. We made a comment about how nice NZ wine was and he just rolled his eye's and said something sarcastic. I would not recommend coming here as I was very disappointed by how my friends and I were treated. Surprised how this place could ever sell wine with such bad customer service.

What a winery! This was the last of 4 on the tour and it did not disappoint.
The owner served us and was a cool guy. Incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his wines. Also very personable and made us feel really welcome.
Looking forward to the next visit

Of the 5 we visited this was the most relaxed and laid back. Although it was quite busy the staff were attentive and well organised. A nice touch was a more obvious seating area to have a coffee or a snack.
The wines were great and there were some end of line sales that were very well priced. Would definitely return here and probably spend a bit longer to enjoy a coffee.

I highly recommend a tasting stop at Coopers Creek. We had a lovely lady freindly, knowlegable and chatty, lead us through a very extensive tasting of about 8-9 wines. Commencing with a well balanced Pinot Gris through to a complex 2013 Syrah.Wines are sourced from grapes from both north and south islands so you get a wonderful variety.Easy to find and a short drive from Auckland, you can visit the black sand beaches and ganet colony nearby and stop for a great tasting. RECOMMEND

Overall a nice winery, affordable prices. But the lady at the counter wasn't friendly at all, my partner and I walked in and wanted to try the reds (as we were recommended by a lady from Kumeu River) and to hear about their wine. I asked where they grow their wine and the answer was to read the labels and they way she looked at us was disgusting. Well, this is not how you expect to be greeted at the winery. I would've rated this winery as 1 but another men took our tasting over with the last 2 wines which was great. I hope the owner will read this review and will make a difference.
