This park is adjacent to Cornwall Park so it's best to visit both on the same day. It's a volcanic peak where you can view the city of Auckland. On the summit of the hill you can see an obelisk with a bronze statue of a Maori warrior.

One Tree Hill did at one time have one tree, but no longer. Attempts have been made to restore the tree, without much success. The hill is 182 metres tall (600 feet). The volcano erupted some 60,000 years ago, today you can see both Auckland harbours from the top of the hill. The obelisk on top of the hill commemorates the Maori people. Taking a car is advisable, it's a steep climb.

One Tree Hill is a good place to visit anytime of the day. You can have the view of the city which looks so pleasant during night with the city lights. It's a challenging walk going up there but it is worth it. It's just a little bit windy though so prepare to bring jacket during cold days.

This volcanic cone is within walking distance of home so readily accessible, even during the current lockdown. Surrounded by parklands and an inner-city farm it is a good place to walk around and an easy climb up to the summit for good views over the city.

Like a lot of New Zealand history, a simple volcanic peak with an obelisk on it obscures a lot of historry. This volcanic peak is 182 metres (597 feet) tall. It has great views over Auckland's two harbours. The obelisk is a memorial to the Maori people. Before the British arrived, the hill had a single tree, near the summit. After that, the history becomes confusing. The end result is that the peak became a park wifh an obelisk, that just about everyone who has ever been to Auckland will recognise.

Because of the location the view from this old volcano cone is one of the best to get an impression of Auckland. In addition the surrounding park with it's amazingly beautiful trees makes this visit even more remarkable.

We came here 3 years ago but brought friends with us this time. You use to be able to drive to the top but now it’s a walk only to the top site. Sadly, our one friend couldn’t walk that far. There is a historical plaque about half way up the hill and several at the top of the hill. Make sure you read these signs to learn about the history of this area. Great Auckland views from the top of the hill.

This hill was once the site of a Maori fort, the largest fortifications in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also a sacred site and burial ground. The steep climb to the top allows you 360 views of greater Auckland, the city, harbor and burbs. The reward is worth the 25 minute climb.
