First, it's a great garden and generally has a wonderful display of flowers. It's groomed to perfection, thanks to Auckland Council's dedicated team. The flowers change with the season, so it's always a surprise. It's also a great place for families and friends to meet. It's where people have graduation pictures taken and also enjoy lunch of dry days. It's a great place for some exercise. You can climb up and down steep steps and enjoy flat areas while doing a circuit. It's a great place for a lunchtime walk!Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 27 November 2023

We started on the University of Auckland side and walked through the park to the Art Museum. Flowers were in bloom and tall, mature trees were nice to see throughout the park. In the center, there was a grouping of cannons next to a small memorial to veterans along with a statue of Queen Victoria. If it wasn’t for the off and on sprinkles then we would have spent more time here since they had lots of benches all around the park.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 June 2024

I found this park jogging from the Sheraton 4 Points and it was a pleasant place to jog but also returned later to sit and take in the peace and quiet. There are a few historical states, one of Queen Victoria. It's just a nice quiet place to relax in the middle of the city.

This is a lovely park in the middle of a busy city. It's a nice escape and has plenty of benches around so you can sit and linger. Locals bring their lunches here as well. We enjoyed spending time here to relax after doing a lot of walking.

Beautiful place to just wander sit and relax. My 2 boys and I enjoyed wandering around the park and doing the fitness circuit (walking) around the University. Beautiful old historic buildings in which the Uni campus is built around. Would love to go to this Uni!

A nice, small park in the north of the city, not far from the university. Named after Prince Albert the park has some lovely native trees as well as plenty of flowers for that splash of colour. An ideal spot to sit and watch the world go by before heading off for some retail therapy in the nearby streets.

Albert park is a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a bit of a hike upwards but the trees are beautiful and the grounds well kept (no garbage anywhere). Would have appreciated more benches in the area to sit on.

This well maintained park is near the Art Museum and University of Auckland. In here there are quite a few places to sit and relax. There are some nice statues and sculptures. We enjoyed the view of the many nearby towers including the clock tower of the university and the Sky Tower.

Probably the most incredible old trees we've ever seen. Worth a walk through in the morning or afternoon to get away from traffic and city bustle.

I was jogging this morning and happened to end up in the Albert park. What a beautiful place. Many very old trees, clean and very impressive. If you love nature, it is a must go in my opinion.

Can you have a drink or drink in the Albert Park? Is there a alcohol ban?
Written 21 November 2019
Im pretty sure you cannot drink in public places in New Zealand unless there is a function with a special alcohol licence.
Written 22 November 2019
I will be there in June which I know will be winter for New Zealand. Will the park still be worth visiting at that time of year?
Written 20 March 2017
Albert Park is on a hill in the city centre. You can see some of the surrounding buildings including the Sky Tower between the trees.
June is winter here, and as the other posts indicate, it is cold but not freezing. Winter is our rain season, but there are many clear sunny days between the rain days.
I suggest to keep it on your list, and go there on a nice day when you're here. Keep your schedule flexible to allow for rain and sun.
