An interesting museum to visit. Lots of variety. Particularly excellent section on New Zealand and Paxific island culture. Our family took the option of the Maori Cultural snow. Was only 30 minutes but well worth the extra cost. We also enjoyed the section on volcanoes....More

Beautiful location, easy to get to via bus, wonderful exhibitions especially the “Are we there yet? Women and Equality in Aotearoa” — it was heartwarming.

So much to see. Highly recommended. Three floors of excellent and interesting historical items. You need to spend at least three hours to see it all.

Great place to showcase NZ’s culture and history. One of the best museums I’ve ever been to. It’s a must-see destination for tourists and locals alike. Just make sure you have comfy shoes on and lots of hours to burn coz it’s a massive place.

A great place to visit for a free day out (Residents only, and must supply proof or residence in NZ) Keeps the kids interested, but even for my self, I enjoyed almost every aspect of what this place could offer.

Hi there Robert, if it's a large group of people, we suggest booking in advance, but for small parties it should be fine to just show up on the day! If you have any other questions, feel free to fire them through!
