Kids loved it! I haven’t been to the museum since I was a kid, great success! They’ve done excellent additions to the building.

I had been to this museum years ago, and frankly some of the exhibits seem not to have changed much. But there was a new one which I enjoyed. It envisages that one of Auckland’s many volcanoes - one in the harbour - erupts. You are sitting in your home with a harbour view, as it happens. It’s a bit like the earthquake experience at Te Papa in Wellington. Noise and shaking. Later we visited the Sky Tower, and you can clearly see all the volcanic cones the city is built around. Nice new atrium area with coffee shop, restaurant and souvenir shop. Paid parking underneath, and free parking in the grounds, if there’s any spaces left. Great view over the harbour from the front steps.

came for lego exhibition, if legoland in calfornia was on fire and infested with hordes of the undead it would still be a more worthwhile experience. too expensive. 5stars

Beautiful museum in the heart of a lovely park. Explore the museum and then visit the historic glass houses. The upper floor of the museum is dedicated to the world wars and there is plenty to look at with interactive parts for children. It's a moving tribute to the brave soldiers who fought.
