Going through the vortex at the entrance is not everyones cup of tea but once inside the magical undersea world opens up. Sadly the noise inside is horrendous as the children's excited voices get to ear piercing levels. Once you have adapted to this the...More

This is our second trip to the Kelly Tarlton aquarium. Our last visit was in 2009 and, for some reason, it seemed larger back then. I don't know if it was because it seemed smaller this time or if it was because we had seen...More

Favourite part is the penguins. If you can, try to watch the penguins stealing stones from other penguins. It's amusing to watch. Also be sure to check out the Antarctic exhibit as the information is great and it's an awesome peak into NZ history.

One if the largest penguin exhibits I have seen. The aquarium is small but enjoyable. Visit only took an hour and we felt we seen everything.

Visiting wildlife is exciting for everybody and my son wasn’t an exception. He was attracted to fishes and playgroup. The worm viewing in the cafe to the sea and city centre is one of my favs.

I recall visiting here in years past and this time round was a disappointment. The train ride to see the penguins is long gone and it’s all legwork - careful of the photographer that harangues you for a photo at the start . But. Into...More

It’s a small underwater world, but it’s still a good place for families with children especially. It has the largest king penguins colony in captivity. You can see everything in about an hour. Book online to get some discount.
