Went to relative's wedding here, and we got chance to walk around inside the house . It is a gem even souvenirs shop provided so many old skool toys, and beautiful charming ladies : Samantha and Beverly were great host that took us to the historical story of the house. My favourite piece was the stereoscope and off course the... More

Came here for a wedding and was told that the guests were able to go into the house. It was a beautiful old house with matching interior. The different rooms all had different personalities and you read the history of the rooms and the items as you go through. The people looking after the place were very knowledgeable about the... Im not really into old houses but I found it very interesting how Alfred Buckland and his 21 children lived here from 1862 to the early 1970's. The house is difficult to find we used the GPS on my phone to find the entrance and the car park is on the left as you drive down the driveway and parking... More

This house has its own carpark which we didn't realise so we parked in the street nearby and paid at the machine. It's in a busy area of Newmarket but is up on the hill with a good view. A quiet oasis in all the hustle and bustle. Good info about the family and history on display and a lovely... More

A lovely, well preserved early Auckland home, quiet yet on the fringe of busy Auckland streets. The New Zealand Heritage has done a wonderful job in conserving this must visit!

On Saturday 3 September 2016 I was at Highwic House for conducting a wedding, this venue has really improved with nice grounds and gardens. Parking is very limited so suggest you park in shopping car park. The address is Gillies Avenue but the main entrance is off the side street Mortimer Pass it is sign posted, however if you use... very easy to find and get to, it feels weird to be near a mall and walking around an old estate like highwic. very well presented with lots to look at. they welcome children and had a easter bunny hunt to gain their engagement. Hearing the little man with us shout with excitement when he found a bunny was great.

Highwic is a hop and skip from downtown Auckland within the New Market neighborhood. I walked there from the Grafton Bridge. If you follow the MapQuest directions they will get you there. It is open Wed. to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A small admission price is worth the cost to keep this classic beauty in good repair.... More

Located very near to the bustling shopping area of Newmarket, this special example of colonial living is highly recommended to view. Each room has been beautifully maintained utilising the original furniture and trimmings of the household. The opportunity to wander through the house freely is pleasing and adds greatly to the enjoyment of reliving the house's history. The enthusiasm of... More
