We arrived just at their opening, 8:30 am. As the first ones up the elevator we had plenty of room to roam around the 360 view on both the first level and the second level. Although we had plans to go to their cafe for coffee when it opened at 9:30, we nixed the plan when it started to get crowded. But if all you want to do is have a birds-eye view of Auckland, this is a good investment for $25.00NZ.
Kia Ora KenVicLee, Thank you so much for taking your time to review your Sky Tower experience and the 5/5 rating. I’m so delighted to read that you enjoyed you visit with us and were able to experience the expansive views without any crowds! Warm Regards, Shandee

Great way to see beautiful Auckland!
The tower is a great way to see Auckland and a must-see attraction for the first-time visitor to the beautiful city. On a weekday in February, we walked right in and bought our tickets (second in line in the afternoon.) It's 1,076' tall, so we were glad we didn't have to climb steps to the top. An elevator whisked us to Level 51, the main observation deck at 610'. The views on a sunny day were incredible! Then we hopped on another elevator to Level 60 at 722' to walk on a mind-blowing glass sidewalk. The tower is made of 2,000 tons of reinforced steel with 260 panes of glass. Engineers believe it's strong enough to withstand a magnitude 8 earthquake. Impressive!
Hi Linda C, Thank you so much for taking time and writing your great experience on trip advisor and giving 5/5 rating. We are glad to hear that you visited on sunny day and explore all our levels and loved walking on glass floor too. Hoping to see you again in future. So you can enjoy evening view with lights too, as both morning & evening have completely different beauty which should not be missed. Kind Regards. Sakshi

It is big and there is a great view from the top. You had better like glass because there is a lot of it around, including under your feet. General admission allows views from two levels and access to the café, but other attractions suck as the walk, jump and restaurant need extra tickets or reservations. Let's face it, you have come a long way to get to Auckland, so you had better go up the tower.

We really enjoyed going up and watching the sunset. Definitely keep an eye on the bar times so you have time for a drink and an epic view before you go up even further. A perfect way to start our trip through New Zealand.

So much fun. Buy your tickets in advance and skip the line. The views are amazing. We went at night, which is beautiful, but very hard to get pictures because of the glare. I would try the day time if I went again. It would also be fun to go when there are people doing the skywalk.... not sure I have the courage to do it.... but it would be fun to watch those that do.

Auckland Sky tower is located in the SkyCity complex with its entrance underground. Several entry packages are available depending on what's open at the top. Once ticket is purchased, the staff will guided us into the glass-bottomed elevator to the top where tickets allow access to two levels of the tower. The bottom level provides 360-round views of Auckland. The viewing windows do seem a tad tinted in my opinion. Another elevator is required to access the SkyDeck, next level up which is a smaller viewing platform which also has some artworks.

Several things to do up the top includes VR ride, SkyWalk, SkyJump which tickets for those are below where the initial entrance tickets are.

The gift shop is back on ground floor on the way out with a small cafe.

Great views but the entry price is becoming unrealistic. Will probably blame covid but price has just raised to $99 for a family pass(2 adults, 2 children) I am sure it was around $70 last year.

I have personally done the sky tower before and loved the 360 degree views over Auckland and surrounding islands. Since last time I went they have upgraded the lifts and made the floor a glass bottom so this time around I couldn't bring myself to go up, seeing the inside of elevator shaft the whole way up would of been terrifying. My hubby, 10 and 6 yr old sons went up. 10 yr old demanded to come down straight away 😅 but hubby and 6yr old were totally mesmerized. They spent ages up there. Sadly the wait to get into the sky deck was too long so they missed that part. They loved doing the sky slide ride. It was fascinating to watch the sky jumpers and air walkers do their thing from down at the bottom and hubby said even from the top that was neat to watch. There is lots to do at the bottom of the sky tower for kids and a nice cafe etc. Definately go on a nice clear day. I suspect a wet or cloudy day would disappoint.

We have been to many places around the world that have observation towers as well as having one (Seattle Space Needle) 30 miles away from where we live. The Auckland Sky Tower is better than most. First of all, it was clean and there were not many people going in the afternoon during a weekday in Winter. So there were no lines. While it may have been easier just to pay the cashier, we saw the signs saying to buy your tickets online and save money. So we saved $10 by buying 2 adult tickets in a combo packet and another $10 by doing it online so we paid $60 NZD for both of us which was quite reasonable for what you got.

And what we got were entry to 2 different levels, glass bottom floor panes, slanted glass so you could lean against it and see straight down. What you don't get and this is a biggie is no outdoor viewing platform. For extra money you could do the skyslide, a VR roller coaster, a skywalk and the main event, the skydive which is different than a bunny as nothing is attached to your ankles and you do t bounce back up. You just jump off attached to a harness and a couple of guy wires. That bill it as 11 seconds of adrenaline, more like 11 seconds of terror, but for the thrill seeker, definitely a major plus.

This is a great family thing to do while visiting Auckland.

As an Aucklander I've been here many times. It is a great place to bring your children or an elder who needs to get out of the house. On one floor there is an ice cream shop where you can grab an ice cream. This floor also rotates slowly giving you a 360 degree view of the city.

There are activities to do down on the activity floor which also consists of the famous glass floor. This is also a great place for bungee jumping (18+) an generally a good day out.
