Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tamaki Drive runs from the Auckland City Centre (at the end of Quay Street - where the cruise boats dock) - all the way to the most beautiful beaches, bars and restaurants in Auckland. Each bay has its own character and you can easily hire an e-bike in the City and potter along the cycle path, spending a day visiting each bay in turn. Tremendous views of Auckland and the nearby Islands from the Michael Savage memorial on the headland just before Mission Bay. A very relaxed pace and a treat whenever you arrive.

The best seafood platter loaded with fresh mussels, oysters, calamari and Tasmanian scallops finished off with a couple of Stella's - it was a beaut lunch just opposite Mission Bay - would have to "dubb" it the "Double Bay" of Auckland (for all you Sydney sider's)

Tamaki Drive, one famous name covers quite long beaches. It starts from city area at the junction near Port of Auckland area, then stretches to the east for some 8 km long road along the beach fronts. Several points of interest starts from : Kelly Tarton Sea Aquarium, next is Okahu Bay Beach, then the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Monument on the hill, then the icon of this road Mission Bay Beach, a centre of eateries, plenty delicious options, nice beach with mature trees, white sandy beach, playground, toilet and change facilities, and off street car park. Finally this road ended at St Heliers Bay area, smaller town centre than Mission Bay with some restaurants, shops and banks. In front of these beaches at the horizon people can see the famous icon of Auckland, Rangitoto Island. Not really special or spectacular beaches along this Tamaki Drive, but also not bad at all. It is nice beaches for water plays, walking, cycling, or just as a picnic place for sitting with friends or families. This stretch of road is served by three public transport bus routes, the easiest to use is Tamaki Link Bus, the light blue colour bus with 15 minutes interval from city centre (Britomart), use AT Hop Card to get better and cheaper bus rate.

The TMK bus service is a well connected, regular and reliable service connecting the city to Glenn Innes and points in between like Mission Bay. I am amazed that the busses are not full but then it is comfortable!

The drive along Tamaki Drive and neighbouring suburbs was recommended in our Eyewitness travel guide and I glad we did it. A lovely way to see more Auckland, the harbour and how the locals live.

Took a bus from CBD, Walked from Hobson Bay to St Helliers, about 4 miles. It was a glorious day with great views of Devonport and beyond. Plenty of cafes to break up the walk. The shared path hugged the coast for the duration of the walk. Sunscreen required as there are large parts of the walk which have no cover.

Quintessentially Auckland. Drive it, bike it, walk it. Lovely meandering road around little bays from the edge of the city to St Heliers Bay. Gorgeous anytime. Must do.
