I grew up swimming in hutt river. Unfortunately now you have to check if safe for swimming. There are times when the algae levels impacts on safety. There is a great swimming hole near Kennedy good bridge. Love it. The fruit and vege market is on Saturday morning. This is in hutt river carpark. Great place for cheap veges. You... More

You will most likely pass this river anyway of you are going in and out of Wellington, make sure you mark Moonshine Road and Totara Park which is a few minutes north of Moonshine Road because this is where they used for filming and its very obvious that this is part of the movie. If your looking for a days outing visit the banks of the Hutt river! Walking paths, free run areas for dogs and a stunning river that you can walk town to and pop your feet it.

If you get a chance try get to the hutt river up in Kaitoke it is amazing the views are beautiful nice waterfalls you can also bike along the river. the track is clear and gives you a great taste of NZ nature. passing all the native new zealand bush and trees and also some great swimming holes on the...
