About
Featured in 2019 Guinness World Record Gamer's Edition and Lonely Planet, The Nostalgia Box is Australia's first interactive Video Game Console Museum. The museum is a celebration of video games and the people that made them happen. The museum contains more than 100 consoles, representing the evolution—and sometimes revolution—that occurred from the 1970s through the 2000s. Go behind the scenes of your favorite games and consoles, learning about the tremendous work that went into them. Play a plethora of classic video games, replaying games from your childhood or making entirely new discoveries. Play a round of Pong, challenge a friend to a high score in Space Invaders, or blast through levels of Super Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedgehog, Alex Kidd, and Crash Bandicoot. This is merely scratching the surface. Relive your childhood, discover gaming's sometimes secret history, and plant appreciation for old-school gaming in a younger generation.

The Nostalgia Box is a museum about gaming and specifically video games, as it contains more than 100 consoles. The Nostalgia Box is the first interactive video game console museum in Australia and it is located in the Western of the country, in Perth. It was featured in the 2019 Guinness World Record Gamer’s Edition and Lonely Planet.
I am a big gamer myself and I couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to visit this incredible place. I choose to play only pokies that require no download and no registration because I don’t like wasting time. I find pokies that work at pokieslab.com, link attached in by bio. I am not a big console player but I couldn’t pass out on this. I tried playing some original Nintendo games such as SEGA and I have to say that comparing to pokies it was a familiar experience. The simplicity of the gaming experience is the same and both have a nostalgic feeling sometimes. Pokies are simple games with a clear goal like many other older games. Playing pokies online though was a little different than playing live with people surrounding you and I wouldn’t say I like the attention. I also played some of the Arcade games that I was too young to experience when they were in.

I loved the museum itself, it has a lot of information about all the consoles and their history. I learnt a lot about gaming consoles that I didn’t even know until I visited the museum. Then, I played Mario Kart, Super Mario, the first Pac-Man and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater after 20 years!
The staff was awesome and they’re happy to share all their video game knowledge with you. I’ll definitely come back!

Fantastic collection of gaming memorabilia and a wonderful walk down memory lane through the museum. Kids loved spending a couple hours here on a rainy day, checking out the old school games and consoles...they even liked Pong, admitting it was harder to play than it looked! Definitely worth a visit.

Gave our older kids an opportunity to get some gaming in during our visit to Perth and thought they'd spend a good while on the wide range of consoles in them museum - but we spent a little over an hour before they'd had enough.
I enjoyed the free stand up arcade games (Galaga, NBA Jam) but I've never been overly interested in consoles and only played a handful. I enjoyed the museum more with its excellent collection of consoles over the years, starting all the way back in the 1970s.
There will be kids and adults who will spend hours here, and for enthusiasts the museum will be really engaging, but I would have got more value for money playing pinball in the nearby Palace Arcade that was unfortunately closed than paying out $80 for only an hour and a bit of console gaming.

Hi. Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed our museum and the arcades but am sorry you feel it wasn't as engaging for your family as you hoped. We always try to ensure every experience is a wonderful one and with us moving to our bigger location in West Perth we hope to have even more consoles and types of games out (including Dance Dance Revolution, more racing and shooting games, and different consoles like the Dreamcast). Should you decide to come back I would be very happy to offer you a 20% discount off your visit to try it again.
Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to see you in the future :-)

Spend 2 1/4 hours here and could have spent much more of not for having to catch a flight home.
Friendly and helpful guy in there as well.
My 12 year old didn’t want to leave, so you don’t just have to be a retro gamer to enjoy. Any video game fan will enjoy a visit to the this place.
Totally recommend

That is the best kind of review. The one where people could stay all day and reluctantly leave due to flights! lol. Thank you for coming. We hope to see you next time you come to Perth!

This museum brought me to my past. There are a lot of different and old consoles which have explanations as well. Once you are finished viewing the consoles you can play a video game. I like Ms Pacman. They even had a Ms Pacman machine. My recommendation i to make an advance booking because sometimes there are school groups. Very easy to find.

An expensive little room- $55 for family of four - for what it is. 15x15m - if that -with half the room partitioned off with old consoles on display and the other half with old gaming machines and games in rows of tables to play.
Although we spent most of our time here gaming, it only took us a few minutes to walk through the 'museum' and look at the old gaming equipment.
Good if you need a hit of gaming while on holiday and a rest stop from the heat and travels around Perth.

Hi Tracy, we are sorry that you think our prices are expensive. We have over 100 consoles in our museum with interesting information, stories or facts on each. We had visitors who took time to read have spent over 2.5 hours in the museum section alone. So there are a lot to discover just in the section. We apologise if you did not find our museum section interesting. We have set out a few projects that we will be implementing this year to make our museum more interactive.Thank you for your review and we will work hard to improve the museum experience for everyone :)

Quite a thorough walk through the history of console gaming with quite the collection of consoles. Went for a quick visit and ended up reading through everything the museum had to offer and then played sonic the hedgehog 2 for an entire afternoon.
If you like games you must go here.

Holy flick, what a brilliant place, what a brilliant concept. Booked out the place for my pre- bday party and it was just unreal (and a bargain)!! Lovely, unobtrusive staff and no hassle about having a few drinks near the machines. Best of all was the variety and displays. A true labour of love; no point complaining that there’s nothing to do in Perth if you don’t support this place.

Is this available for walk-ins? I'm travelling to Perth Next Week and am not sure which day we would be going but I really wanted to visit.
Written 20 December 2017
Bookings can be made online or over the phone. If it’s quiet I’m sure walk ins are fine, but being school holidays it may be busier than usual.
