Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Council House is one of the few modern buildings in Perth that are city landmarks. Council House was built in Modernist style. Council House is now 60 years old. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in March 1963. It was almost demolished in a fit of municipal madness. The 13-floor building is in St George's Terrace, Perth's main street. Council House is illuminated at night. It is one Perth's few truly original buildings; a building of which Perth people can be proud. House. Around 500 employees of the City of Perth occupy Council House.

Council house is best viewed at night as by day it is quite a boring 1970's square building.

I happened upon this whilst wandering around the CBD at night and was absolutely entranced! To find out - by asking a passing local woman - that it was, rather prosaically, the City Council offices during the day made me enthusiastically call out 'Huzzah!!'
If only other councils had this type of whimsy...

Council House building is on St Georges Terrace. It's a short walk to public transport and it is surrounded by many good places to eat. It is light up at night so it's definitely worth viewing in the evening if you get a chance. It's also not far to the Swan River from there. There is a nice park direct opposite if you want to sit there.

We owe this fine building to the Commonwealth Games, which were held in Perth in 1962, the biggest thing ever that had ever happened to Western Australia. Like most things of true distinction in Perth, the government wanted to demolish it, but a vigorous public backlash prevented this civic vandalism. Council House is the headquarters of the City of Perth, the State's main civic body. It is very easy to find, on the corner of St Georges Terrace and Barrack Street. Council House is one of the best examples of the modernist style in Australia, and is particularly attractive at night.

I think Council House is best viewed at night from the street, as it's always lit up at night with an ever changing array of lights.

It is a must on your visit to Perth that you catch the colourful lights of Council House! This beautifully lit up building at St Georges Terrace is the headquarters of the Perth City Council - it is lit up by night though and looks absolutely amazing with thw whole variety of lighting patterns. There is a bench across the street where you can sit down and admire the interesting patterns running over the building continuously.

Council House has always been at the heart of the City of Perth. It has been at the centre of controversy since 1962, when it was opened in time for the Commonwealth Games. Council House is a Modernist building, which the people of Perth have come to love. It is one of the few contemorary buildings in Perth that stand out.

Council House is a fine example of the Modernist style, built during the 1960s as the headquarters of the Perth City Council. It is in one of the city's prime locations, at the corner of Barrack St and St George's Tce. Thankfully, the city's elders resisted the temptation to demolish the building. Council House is well worth a look.
