This gallery has a range of exhibits, most of them with free entry. The "Spice trail" exhibition ($15) was on when we visited and this made for a fascinating 2-1/2 hours. The aboriginal art section is both beautiful and moving whilst many fine pieces can be seen throughout the other areas. There were also a number excellent children's activities when... More

The Art Gallery is very well laid out exhibitions that are easy to access. It is part of a historical precinct within walking distance from the Centre of Perth.

It was a good way to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon in perth. Most of it was free and there was alot to see. Plenty of different artists work . Some very interesting ones the abstract as well. There were also exhibits of pottery and smoother things including a very realistic one of two people where you were expecting them... More

We saw the exhibitions when they were divided into years of purchase, this was a terrific idea and was a pleasure to walk around. Each gallery had a different time frame so the changes to art could also clearly be seen. The gallery staff were easy to interact with if you had any queries, so different from the "stand offish"... I find the art gallery a bit of a waste of time. But, I prefer the traditional galleries with masterpieces and landscapes. Pictures I can study for a while and see wonderful expressions, colours and contrasts. The WA gallery has a lot of so-called modern offerings that one has to pay for. I find much of this abstract stuff a... More

Although a small gallery there is a wide range of works to suite all tastes. Downstairs in the Centenary you will find the older works of art - McCubbin etc. Often there are excellent exhibitions running and at present there is a fantastic exhibition on called Treasure Ships, Art In The Age Of Spice. This is definitely worth a look.... More

The permanent collections are always a treat to view then there are also regular special exhibitions, some of which you have to pay for. Not open on Tuesdays. The Art Gallery coffee shop is a good place to relax after a viewing.

We visited the Treasure Ships exhibition. Fantastic items and extremely interesting history. It took us an hour or two to see it all. Highly recommended. The rest of the gallery is just a gallery.
