Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our tour bus dropped us off for an hour and I just decided to enter here to waste a bit of time, and I am so glad I did. They were just starting a demo/tour and it was so informative and fun. The speaker gave us fun facts about the pearl industry and how pearls were rated. Then he opened a shell and explained about it. He passed around various shells and pearls for us to touch and examine. I wish it would have lasted even longer, as it was so interesting. The people were all so friendly. This is definitely worth a visit.

The trip from Broome had every side road closed. Our Pearlers cottage was so basic, not even a vanity and we ran around in the shower to get wet. The evening meal came with an incomplete meal because Fries had run out. We had the worst breakfast ever, and after our sea safari the coffee wasn't available.

Don't have high expectations but when you pay a lot of money and get rubbish it's a hard pill to swallow. Absolutely sick of hearing the Australian excuse, we can't get staff. Cut the benefit back and get Australians off their lazy butts. Tourists have lots of money but enough is enough.

Never go back to this over priced disaster. We did enjoy the sea safari though.

Good morning r0bandjanem, Firstly , let me apologise that this review was not responded to in a timely manner, I have recently joined the company as the Tourism Manager and I am addressing all the matters that you have raised. I know that the property had a terrible time during the season with staffing issues but as you say that does not excuse incomplete meals, no coffee, and unsatisfactory breakfasts. The cottages are getting a refurb before we open for the dry season & we are looking to having a buffet breakfast available so that guests can have a choice. Once again my sincere apologies for your unsatisfactory stay. Kind regards

Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm
We flew in after circling the Horizontal Falls, and were picked up by the Farm’s 4WD bus.
A good breakfast was included for us, before we had a one-hour tour of the pearl farm history and processes.
Our young guide was very informative, but I was uncomfortable with his very frequent use of the word “bloody”.
First, we went to the old school house to learn the history of the Brown family and Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, then down to a shed by the beach where a shell was opened to see what it yielded. Unfortunately, the pearl inside, had too many flaws to be used for jewellery, but still had other uses.
Nothing is wasted – the pearl shell is used, the muscle, is used by restaurants or freeze dried and exported, and the oyster itself – often goes to the staff for a snack.
We then went back to the main area, where we were shown all the properties that make a pearl valuable for jewellery.
It was a very interesting tour, by an enthusiastic young man, who just needs to moderate his language a little.

I booked to do the Pearl Grading session at the Broome boutique, & even though I was the only participant, the session went ahead. I spent a very enjoyable hour with Theresa Zamora, learning about how pearls are graded. I was also had the opportunity to grade some pearls myself. It enhanced my appreciation of Australian Pearls.
I would encourage any pearl lover to enquire about this session, if you are in Broome, as it isn't always advertised.

Stayed for 2 night - one night in safari tent and one night in pearlers shack. Safari tent was ok but getting very old and worn. Very expensive @$270 for one night in a tent. Basic supplies and kettle only available in camp kitchen which is also in need of a serious clean and makeover. The second night we were in the Pearlers shack and shack is probably the correct way to describe it. First impression was the flyscreen door with the flyscreen falling off. The interior is very basic and the curtains had holes all over them. Uncomfortable cane type lounge. Very basic old kitchen. Bathroom is old and basic with a laundry sink as your basin. Cobwebs everywhere.
At $290 a night its outrageous. For that price they should at least be making improvements to the place but they have the monopoly in the area so probably dont care too much because they are booked out anyway.
Very disappointed.
Pearl Farm tour was good though and the restaurant food was nice.

Thank you for your feedback and we are terribly sorry that your experience with us was disappointing. Due to our remote location, we generate our own power, using mostly solar and so power hungry devices like kettles are only available in the camp kitchen. We pride ourselves on our staff and their attention to detail, and so are very sorry that the maintenance and cleanliness was not up to standard, we will get our team to look into the points you raise and appreciate you taking the time to pass these comments on. This year has been very difficult for us (as it has been for most people and businesses) and we plan on giving all our shacks attention over the wet season. Glad to hear these issues did not affect the rest of your experience with us and we hope that we will see you again at Cygnet Bay 😊

This was a free experience. I learnt a lot about the history of pearling and Broome. Interesting and lots of samples passed around. Helpful staff in the showroom but no pressure to buy.
