About
The Horizontal Falls are a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow, closely aligned gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay. The direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach 10 metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge. Travelling by land, air and sea - Horizontal Falls offers full, half day and overnight tours to experience this natural phenomenon.

We did not get the experience we were expecting. Our horizontal fall experience unfortunately was not what we paid for. We tried hard to talk to management and do the right thing without doing this on social media . Unfortunately they lied to us and Perth consumer department. I just want to make it very clear to horizontal fall management that we were NEVER at any time offered a refund. If a refund had of been offered we would have excepted it . Instead of having a very bad experience and very rushed and not at all what we expected. We did go to Perth consumer department (the only option we had) and they were told by Horizontal falls management that they would be happy for this to go to court. Big guy agony’s the little guy what hope to we have and over perhaps another $600 .. not sure I want anything to do with these type of people

It was an amazing experience. Beautiful scenery along the coast. Lovely small group. Three planes loads. Breakfast and a swim when we arrived and then the exhiliarating passes through the falls. Great staff, very committed and made us vey welcome. Definitely an experience not to be missed.

We did the full day Falls and Dampier Peninsula Tour. Great day but far too long.
I would recommend the half day tour instead and miss out on Dampier Peninsula experiences which were a bit boring and coach ride back too long and boring.Didnt get much out of the hatchery tour. Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm tour was interesting but too long. The 2.5 hr coach ride back seeing nothing on the way did not make the pearl farm tour worth it.
The tour overall was very well run, staff friendly. Disappointed that I booked a drive/fly tour and at the last minute it was changed to fly/drive 'due to operational needs'. Same experience yes, but lots of recommendations to fly in arvo when colours from afternoon sun are better.

Booked and paid for a half day lunch time Horizontal Falls tour for mid September many months in advance. Made airline and accommodation bookings from Perth to and from Broome especially for, and only for, the tour. Then a little over a week before the tour we got a call to say that it was cancelled without any explanation. We did get our tour cost reimbursed but spent a total of about $2800 to get to this tour which was completely wasted. Very unhappy and disappointed customers. An unreliable tour operator. Would have given it no stars if that was possible.

This tour is unbelievable and if you are travelling in the Kimberley, it is a must do!
Very professional operators and stunning scenery. The flight to and from the falls is an added bonus, taking in some spectacular scenery. Kids loved it and so did my wife and I.

Amazing all day experience sooooo worthwhile the cost. Check tides before booking. We went fly drive option due to tides. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. Waterfalls a bucket list adventure. The river system tour a great experience. Flight in and out a bucket list of photo opportunities. Best was the aborinal farm of local coral coast. Best. Cygnet Bay Pearl lunch delicious and tour very good. So worth the cost.

Loved our seaplane trip to the pontoon for a swim, lunch and a boat ride to Horizontal Falls. The scenery on the way up to the Falls as well as lunch and our boat trip was amazing and we would recommend it to anyone.

When planning our trip, we had come across this tour provider and were able to book this day tour already in January without any problems. Full of anticipation, we got up early at 04:00 and were picked up on time shortly before 05:00 from our accommodation. The departure was delayed a bit because of the weather conditions, but the team was immediately able to organize the necessary adjustments for the rest of the tour. The one-hour flight to Talbot Bay and the landing on the water were an experience in themselves. The supply on the base was very good. Our two giudes gave a lot of interesting information about the geology and biology of this remote and beautiful region. The absolute highlight was the speedboat ride through one of the two horizontal falls. The return flight to Cape Leveque showed again the beauty of the region. The tour continued by land and took us to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. Here barramundi of the highest quality was served for lunch. The laborious production of cultured pearls was also vividly demonstrated.
We recommend this tour without reservation and warmly.

If you do nothing else in Australia you must make your way to Horizontal Falls, this day tour is one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had, I was accompanying my tour group from Fun Over Fifty Holidays.
For all of our guests it was a bucket list experience which they’d dreamed of and saved hard for and it did not disappoint.
Allthe staff are so attentive , knowledgeable, professional and friendly, they clearly love their jobs and are so happy to share their knowledge of this amazing place with their guests.
The natural phenomenon of the Horizontal Falls has been described by David Attenborough as “ the 8th wonder of the world” it surely is, the Kimberley is magnificent and never more so than at the Horizontal Falls. Try your hardest to visit you’ll be so glad you did!
Thank you to all the amazing staff, pilots, guides, cooks, everyone, you are the best!!

From pickup to drop off, this day was seamless. This is a well run business with everything thought of for you to have an awesome experience. The flight, the food, the boat, the pootoon setup, everything was amazing. All of the staff were professional and friendly . A huge shout out to our skipper Daisy, who not only had fantastic rapid water negotiation skills but was very knowledgeable of the area to boot. Easily my best day in WA.

Wanted to know the best thing to do. We are booked in for 11th June next year for the 24 hour stay over we are going to stay in Derby on the 10th

I am prone to get sea sick on anything. I got tablets from the Doctors and started taking them two days before. I didn’t even feel nauseous at all. Great day if you get to do it.

Does everyone have a window seat on the seaplane so they can take photos easily?

Not everyone has a window seat. However. It’s only a 14 seat plane and easy to take photos. The pilot does several paths so both sides of the plane get a fair look. I was on my own and got to sit in the co-pilot seat. Had a great day. All the staff went out of their way to make it enjoyable.

No tours in the Wet Season. I’d check with them and book, as some tours are booked out ahead of time.
Also note that there are different durations of tours - overnight allows you to see both incoming and outgoing tides.

We got it on a special at the courthouse markets.There’s a lovely lady who runs a tour stall there kimberley information and travel centre.Gianna Cortese and her twin daughter.Very helpful great personality and cheapest you will get to tour in Broome and the Kimberleys.They have tide reports and very knowledgable.

I think that it's best to contact the company. They deal with the tides. Another possible source of information is the Broome Visitor Centre. You could contact them & they would probably be able to advise.

Thinking of doing the all day tour to Horizontal Falls next weekend. Could you please advise how bumpy it will be on the bus & during the boat trip through the falls, as I have a small back issue. I am assuming you take more senior visitors on these tours?

You are best to speak to the company running the tours re the medical issues you have. I am just a traveller and don't have back issues so can't recall if it would be a problem or not for you.

I wanted to know if we are better to go to the falls from Derby or Broome please. Most of the reviews seem to be from Broome. We have 6 people. Also if from Derby I noticed there is a morning or an overnight tour. Is one a better experience that the other with regard to the falls. Are the falls better in the morning or afternoon?
