I want to be very clear on this review as to what happened. My mother in law booked the sunset camel ride in April for one of our nights in Broome in May. We turned up for the camel ride and asked the other companies where to find the Sundowner camels and they said they haven't been operating all year. We then rang the company who said we should have received a text and emailing cancelling due to staff shortage. We never received either but did oddly receive a confirmation text the day before and another text after to ask how it went. I did have a long conversation with Steve the owner who advised he hasn't done tours since last year due to lack of staff. He apparently was meant to have 3 people come for interviews but never showed up. I did advise that he needed to be more open with his customers on his website as for us we couldn't rebook with someone else as they were all fully booked. A disappointment for a birthday gift that now couldn't happen. I did ring the Shire to make it clear how this company is operating as they are the ones who provide the permits. I understand that Covid and staff shortages are common but the lack of forewarning just creates disappointmemt and a bad reputation for this company. I also didn't feel that Steve cared about the impacts this has on customers. On a good note we received our refund so not out of pocket.

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOUR. The experience as a whole was laughable. The way Steve treated and embarrassed his staff members on front of everyone attending was unacceptable. He was constantly shouting and belittling his staff member which was very uncomfortable to watch. It was evident that all staff were simply afraid of their manger. Throughout the ride he complained slagged off previous employees which is very unprofessional. Upon arrival we were simply looked up and down and grunted at to get on a scales. Noted nobody else was made get on a scales, myself and my friends all obliged and were under the limit, yet staff members made a fuss and were talking about our weight. Which I believe is unacceptable. Steve then went through all the camels and their histories with there riders, taking his time with each rider. However myself and friends were yet AGAIN dismissed even when asking questions about the camels. Overall a very uncomfortable experience in which I was counting down the time until the tour finished.

After a full introduction on how to mount and ride the camels we set off on 1 hour ride along the Beach as the sun was setting.Brilliant !I felt like Lawrence of Arabia. The camel wranglers were helpful and knowledgeable about the camels and Broome. They also took really good photos using our camera. After dismounting we had drinks on the beach and said good bye to our Camels. If you do this tour ask to ride " Sparticus " he is an absolute star.

We were a grp of 12 and Steve and Elizabeth were such a delight. Steve loves his camels like babies and takes very good care of them. The sunset canel ride was so worthwhile- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND contacting Steve in advance to book your spot. The staff as well took lots of photos, videos and were always happy ti answer any queries. Steve loved taking about each of his camels and his experiences with them and the business so far. I wish Steve and Elizabeth all the best and hope to visit them again......
