Just amazing, what a wonderful place. We took a day long tour including scenic flight, snorkeling, beach time and nature walks.
So many highlights...the reefs from the air, the Batavia wreck site, East Wallabi Island, the wallabies of course.
Absolute paradise and probably the highlight of our month long trip to Australia.

My husband and I were not quite sure what this 5 day boat trip on the Eco Abrolhos would be like. Our reunion group of 7 trip was organised by The Villa discovery group in Perth and our Perth friends forwarded the information on to us in Melbourne and another friend in Adelaide. We all liked the idea of learning about the wreck of the Batavia and doing snorkelling and fishing. While this trip is not for the faint-hearted- it involved a rough 5 hr trip from Geraldton to the first island and walking on rocky, rough coral beaches to get to the ocean to snorkel after clambering into tenders from our main boat- it was well worth the effort. The fish and large expanses of coral were spectatular and swimming with sea lions was a beautiful experience. We ate freshly caught and cooked lobsters and generally had nice food and lots of it. The other people who joined our 7 were quite elderly and many were inspirational - especially the 90 yr old man who snorkelled and kayaked. It was probably a bit too active - apart from interesting beach walks to see the resident fishermen's houses on the islands and the island with the sea lions- for a lot of the over 80 passengers. The water was beautiful and clear and calm around the islands so that people could get a good look at the coral from the glass bottom tenders. Our crew on our ship were very professional and knowledgeable and helpful. A great trip if you are fit and active and young at heart!!

We went on a charter plane and had a approx. 1 hour fly over the islands being shown all the sites. It was beautiful. We then landed on the only Island that the general public can visit. It was a 15 to 20 min walk to the beach shelter where we set up. I was then off with a few adventurous people to snorkel around an amazing reef. I have been on the Great Barrier Reef but this was a lot better. The reef at the Abrolhos Islands is nowhere near as big but the coral and the fish were outstanding. During our lunch break back under the beach shelter we had several different types of lizards up to 75cm long came to visit us hoping to try some of our lunch. Walk around the island and you will see a lot more and plenty of birdlife. The best part is that this place is a Snorkelers Paradise.

Just finished an amazing 5 day cruise to the Abrolhos islands on the Eco Abrolhos. What a wonderful experience to be able to see how the fishers live. The crew were very friendly and had a lot of information, which was thoroughly appreciated. Special thanks to Don, the cook. The food was fantastic. The highlight for me was visiting Beacon and Long Island and being able to snorkel on the Batavia wreck site. Thanks a lot to Sonia and Jay for a wonderful experience.

Southern group are the lowest lying of all the islands... most are less than 3m high. Our family pearl farm is located on Post Office Island in the centre of the group on the NE side. The islands are visited by charter boat operators but there is no airfield nearer than Rat Island about 20nm to the NW. The crossing from Geraldton can be a bit rough and the area is famous for its steady trade winds... generally from the SE. Below the water is where you want to be. The sea life is astonishing and the water very clear. Best time of the year is April to October because the winds drop off after fronts and we get glassy sunny days that are perfect for exploring.

Just returned from a 5 day cruise to the Abrolhos Islands off Geraldton in WA and what a thoroughly captivating experience it was. Our interest in these islands stemmed primarily from a desire to learn more about the shipwreck Batavia and we could not have chosen a better way of achieving that than by travelling on board the Eco Abrolhos with owners Jay and Sonia Cox and their first class crew and staff. Over the 5 days we were comprehensively taken through the history of doomed voyage brought to life by discussions, film and visiting the key sites and historical locations. In addition we learnt about life on the islands both fauna, birds, marine and human occupation and economic significance. Interspersed with island visits was terrific fishing and snorkelling and glass bottomed boat viewing of the extensive coral reefs. As reported elsewhere the cabins, general lounge and dining facilities and the fabulous daily cuisine were first class and exceeded all our expectations. Above all it was the genuine family based culture of the tour which made it such a memorable experience.

We loved our fabulous cruise around the Abrolhos Islands, such an unspoilt tourism experience. Very comfortable ensuited cabins with well appointed saloon and dining areas. Chef Don did a great job with fresh product from the sea which we helped to catch! Staff were attentive and offered great WA hospitality and friendliness. Good to learn of the Dutch history and wrecks. Recommend this adventure on your way around!

6 days fishing with 5 mates from the east hosted by Justin Pirrottina wife Kylie and deckhands Adam and Chris on Justin's good ship the 'Apparition'.Perched on reef atolls the accommodation was ideally designed for weather and access to one of Australia's great natural wonders. Justin is 24/7, skipper head chef outgoing humorous and all round good bloke. Professional cray fisherman who only takes a few fishing charters a year. Kylie perfect wife, laughs at his jokes perfect sidekick for this locally bred champion. Deckies Adam and Chris ensured that we maxed out on the "Abrolhos fishing experience".Attentive hospitable and cracking fisherman in their own right. Our group was very experienced having fished around the globe for all types of species and conditions. They rated this as one of the best weeks fishing they have had.👍👍

Great fishing trip with some excellent snorkelling spots (dive if you can), caught more than our fill of dhufish, bald chin groper and spangled emperor and stuffed ourselves on crayfish. Combined with the story of the Batavia shipwreck it was also a very interesting trip. The staff were laid-back and friendly and the chef was superb.
