Station is clean and easy to get around
This is Melbourne's main station for regional and interstate trains. It also is a destination for suburban commuter trains. Southern Cross is also a starting point for interstate coaches, and the Skybus goes to Tullamarine and Avalon Airports. Southern Cross also connects to tram and Uber services. Southern Cross is a new station, it is clean and easy to get around. It's only shortfall is that bathroom facilities are limited.

Convenient jumping-off point for regional Victoria
Southern Cross Station is the convenient jumping-off point for suburban and Victorian regional railway services. Southern Cross is also the boarding point for Skybus, going to the airports, and for other coach services. We have taken several train trips recently, to Bendigo and Geelong, starting from Southern Cross. It's easy to get to, and the trains leave on time. Southern Cross was once known as Spencer St Station, but it hs been completely rebuilt. The station is a lot better now than it was then.

    Centrally located, very convenient....
Centrally located with easy access to lots of hotels, dining & retail nearby. There is a mid sized COLES supermarket nearby. The only stop for the Airport Skybus - great that the alighting & drop off points are sheltered inside the station.

    Station ws renovated recently
Southern Cross Station is a major railway station. Regional stations run from here, also some suburban services. The station was renovated recently, it's easy to get around. My only quibble is that conveniences are limited.

Southern Cross replaced an antiquated station a number of years ago and it's quite a stunning building with its waving roof that is rather like sand dunes. The roof’s form plays a crucial role as part of the environmental envelope ensuring that it is symbol of sustainable architecture developed in response to the hot external climate and the internal need for diesel extraction and ambient cooling via natural ventilation.

But enough about semantics... there are Christmas decorations up! And they are adorable... With Frosty the Snowman and the pine trees... it is quite stunning. At this time of year, there are many people struggling so it's important for transport hubs to reflect the community and support the community... the cheerful decorations are cause for a smile.

Christmas is that time of year that we are reminded to be kind to strangers- smile, offer a kind word, do a kind gesture... it really can be something amazing if we remember what it's essentially about.

Merry Christmas to one and all.

No good options at 9pm at night, as one of Melbourne’s most significant stations surely you should be able to get something quick and warm to eat at 9pm at night before getting on a train?

Great modern architecture in the roof. I’ve been to a few railway stations in my time and this one was an architectural splendour. Great place for the train spotters to just let time fly by.

We did a reccie, here, before, leaving on the interstate train, we are so glad we did as the station is huge, the structure has a nice appeal about it, with a wavey roof, the interior is quite airy, again glad we rugged up.

This is the main train station in Melbourne that serves both Metro and the country VLine trains.

The architecture of the station is is quite unique.

The Melbourne Airport Skybus also departs from here.

There are several eateries, however I noticed that Network Bar is closed permanently perhaps a consequence of covid.
