The meals were large portions. My chicken skewers were the largest and fattest I've ever seen. Drenched with oil but was flavoursome. My friends crumbed fish was over fried. Agreat meeting place and views. But i wouldn't make a special trip for the food - it was average.

Expensive, Hard to take in the view from while u r seated up there as the balustrade so high and only the top 10cm in clear glass.

I was certainly underwhelmed with my meal and the whole ambiance of this place.
I came on date night expecting to be seated at the rooftop (which I’ll discuss later) but unfortunately we were on the lower level in the pub section. First of all, there is no host to help you get seated (even with a reservation) so we walked aimlessly until someone could help us. We were told it was table service at this time but of course no one came to the table so we ordered (and picked up??) our own food. Seriously, this part about picking up our own food shocked me. We were given a buzzer. I’ve never experienced this outside a food court.
When the food did arrive the chips for some reason were served in a takeaway container on the plate. Why they weren’t just on the plate itself I have no idea. The food itself was fine but definitely not worth the high prices. Even at 8pm on a Friday the dining section was empty leading to just an awful ambiance. The DJ was atrocious and the noise carrying in from the main bar was so distracting.
We headed upstairs to the rooftop and this made the night significantly better. The view is stunning and there’s a much better feel up there. My advice, skip the restaurant entirely and just go upstairs.
That said. The price of cocktails was obscene. I know it’s Melbourne and a rooftop bar with a view at that, but still. $25 for a cocktail is getting truly out of hand.
All in all my experience here was ok. I won’t be returning that’s for sure.

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear that you didn’t have a great experience at Transport Hotel. I have passed on your comments to our Front of House Manager and Executive Chef and they are addressing the issues with the frontline team and music manager.
As for the cocktail pricing on the rooftop bar some of the cocktails are quite high in alcohol, eg some have 3 shots of spirit which would be priced at $12 per shot if you were going to have them on their own.
Although you mentioned you would not return, I am hoping that you would reconsider and let us treat you to a round of cocktails on the rooftop. We would ensure you are extremely well looked after and show you that we pride ourselves in our service and hospitality.

Called in here for a casual Mothers Day lunch. Great spot, but the food (beetroot and goats cheese salad) was very uninspiring...goats cheese..? a pool of yoghurt lurking under a lot of lettuce leaves. Baby beets (2 of) were impenetrable by knife).

Such a great rooftop bar!!!!!! Great atmosphere and if you get the right seat / table spectacular views of Melbourne but they can be obstructed
Cocktails are expensive eg. $44 for two mojito's but the cheese platter is highly recommended

We visited this rooftop bar hoping for some great views. We sat on one of the high tables and high chairs on the edge.
Unfortunately from where we were sitting the screens do block most of the views and you really need to stand to get better views of Southbank and The Yarra River. We could also see the Moomba Festival in the distance. Seating further away from the edge did get some skyline views of buildings.
Its a pity that the screens were not made of a see through material like glass as the views of the river could be more spectacular.

We were walking around Melbourne and visited this bar for lunch. After a long walk out to the sports venues, this place really hit the spot. Friendly staff, an interesting lunch/snack menu, good range of drinks, and great views of the Melbourne skyline, the trams, and the MCG.
It's very convenient for all the transport including river trips. It has a lift, making it accessible for all. Not the cheapest place you'll visit, but the ambience made it worth it for us.

Stopped in after dinner to catch a set on the rooftop. Staff helped us get a small table inside. The band was very good playing mix of blues.
