Our family visited Bella Italian in Henrietta St tonight for the first time and it was fantastic! Luigi, our waiter for the night, gave us amazing italian feeling. He gave us a outstanding service and he played and joked with our children what they really enjoyed. Thanks for this beautiful experience and we will come back again soon!

So I emailed ahead and asked for a nice spot which they gave us, the restaurant was very rustic and intimate, the service was nothing less than outstanding. Excellent value for money. So good in fact we will be going back to the same restaurant in Covent Garden in November for our anniversary x

Went to a classical performance at Ruby's which was fantastic, especially with the grand piano. However, the bar was overcrowded with the tables too close together and the alcohol was way overpriced - $50 per bottle for cheap wine that can be bought for $10-15 - huge mark-up. Worst of all was the bartender - he was extremely rude, obnoxious... More

My wife and I went for something different to do on a Thursday night. The music and singing was wonderful in a venue that was very inviting. Had a great time and enjoyed some lovely wine.

We visited Ruby's Music Room whilst in Melbourne celebrating our anniversary. It is extremely difficult to find a jazz venue with wheelchair access anywhere in the world so we were rapt to find this little gem. The music was excellent, the service attentive and the small wine list had some great choices. We indulged in a bottle of French bubbles... More

Nice little venue, tucked away in Bennetts Lane. Lots of promise but... needs an MC to host the event & introduce the act. We were there on NYE. There was no food available, a nasty house red which wasn't cheap either. There was only one performer, from 7.30 to 10 and we were all evicted at 11.30. On NYE! Otherwise,... More

Came across Ruby's when trying to find a live music venue in Melbourne. They had a Live Mike night from 7-10pm for anyone wanting to sing and play their favourite songs on the grand Steinway piano. Very personal place with Robert the owner attending to everyone and listened to some very talented young people . Would definitely go again when... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
