- Jenni WMelbourne, Australia2 contributionsHelpful driverI got the SkyBus from the airport to Southern Cross station. Commendations to the driver who was really helpful. At the train station he made a point of coming to assist me with my case, as I couldn’t lift it down from the bag rack. Such a great service.Hi Jenni, we're so glad to hear you enjoyed your experience with us. - Sleep AdvisorKettering, Australia104 contributionsBest option availableVery good service, best way to travel to the city, however we were unable to hear/understand the commentary/directions from the driver on both trips to and from the airport. This is in part an accent thing, however more a location of the microphone I think ... too close (blahblahgarbleblah) or too far away (shhhhhh Melbshh, cityshhhh). All good!!Great to hear the positive feedback - thanks SleepAdvisor! - Paz GoicoecheaPerth, Australia3 contributionsGreat and convenient serviceIn my opinion, the best option to go from Tullamarine Airport to the city, considering quality and price. You can purchase the tickets through the app or directly upon exiting the airport. I recommend buying return tickets. It's cheaper. I had to go to Saint Kilda, so I took the Peninsula Express one. In less than one hour the bus dropped me off just 2 blocks from my destination. It's very comfortable and there is a special compartment to put your luggage. Also, the driver was very kind and helpful, making sure everyone gets to their right destination. I highly recommend.Hi mariapazgoicoechea, thanks you so much for sharing your experience with others who may not have had the chance to try SkyBus yet. This will sure help! - Linda PSydney, Australia35 contributionsSkybus Peninsula ExpressFirst time user of this service, for our return trip from the domestic airport to St Kilda. Firstly, well sign posted at the airport and a convienent location just outside the Qantas terminal. Airconditioned bus was much need this particular weekend . Bus drivers were helpful, smiley and happy to wait for this 'boomer" to bring the prepaid tickets up on her Skybus app. I even emailed the company while in the air, as I thought we'd miss the Peninsula bus and was surprised when they got back to me (still in the air) with a prompt and helpful reply. Customer service at its best .Thank YouHi LindaP455, it doesn't get much better than that. Thanks so much for leaving feedback on your experience with SkyBus. - The Paul’sAdelaide, Australia71 contributionsGetting to the airportAt just under $20 pp one way, the SkyBus is a cheaper option than taxi or Uber for one or two people. From what we can tell, an Uber will cost upwards of $50 so if cost figures highly, it’s the way to go. We didn’t know about the free shuttle but will look into it next time.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 April 2024
- wombatdavidHobart, Australia2,683 contributionsGood serviceThis is a good service for 1 person. With recent price rises, not great for 2 or more. I got a cheaper ticket through Agoda activities - it pays to look for a cheaper deal. I saved $7. The staff were pleasant and I got a seat both ways with place for my big bags.Cheers for the review, wombatdavid. - debc624 contributionsWell Done Ashley!!!I took the sky bus from Melb Airport to the city today 08.08.24 the drivers name was Ashley-he has excellent customer service skills, friendly, welcoming. And helped me with my large case. His commentary was very clear and welcoming. The driver that took me to the airport two weeks ago - a tall and dark man was the opposite - just grunted, no help at all and just pointed to where he wanted the bags. Please employ more people like Ashley “what a welcome to Melbourne”Thanks for the kind review debc6, we will ensure Ashley gets the recognition he deserves. The sky bus was great value for money and runs frequently day and night. cheaper than a taxi and drops off right in the heart of the CBD. You can book and pay online before leaving home or pay when you arrive at the sky bus kiosk.

Got a discount voucher from CITYTEMPO to give us a 10% discount (March 2020). Used the APP for storing our tickets. The Qantas terminal is the last pick up so the bus may be a little full... though the staff is very good at helping with bags. Traffic was a little heavy at 5pm on a weekday but it was good to be able to sit back and relax. Charging and free wifi on the bus. Double Decker bus. Once we got to Southern Cross station a smaller bus does drop offs around the city. When going back to Southern Cross the bus picks up every 20 minutes from the pick up points.

The Skybus service is such great value and the service is so easy to use.
I bought a return trip ticket from Melbourne Airport to Southern Cross Station (city centre) for the family for $79. This got us to the centre of the city within 25 minutes.
The service for the city express comes every 6-7 minutes, but we seemed to get to boarding points right on time, so had no wait at all. It's just such an easy service to use, gets you right to where the free city tram service runs too.
The bus was very clean, temperature controlled and instructions and pleasant greeting and additional instruction from the driver were friendly and clear to understand. A great service!!!

The company provided a very convenient transportation between Avalon Airport to Melbourne CBD. At Avalon Airport, the desk is available besides the Car Rental kiosk at the Departure Terminal. Reasonably priced for travelers and you can get a good bargain for Family ticket at AUD48 (which cover 2 adult and up to 4 kids!). The bus is punctual, driver courteous and always drive carefully. At CBD, the bus will stop at Southern Cross Station which is a hub with connecting trams, buses and trains to your final destination. Timetable can be checked at their website. Overall, good service.

At between half and two thirds the cost of taking a cab, this service is the most economical way to get from airport to city. The double decker buses to Southern Cross station are frequent, fairly comfortable and, as you would expect, have plenty of luggage space. They also have free Wi-fi and the pre recorded announcements are easy to understand. Once at Southern Cross, there is a free link which does a round robin of the city making seven stops, so wherever you need to go, there should be a stop easily accessible.

On a recommendation from others, I decided to use the Skybus for transport from the Melbourne Tullamarine airport into the city. I did not how how it worked, so when I asked at the ticket counter, the lady was quite rude and abrupt, when I tried to ask a second question, she ignored me and told me the price which I paid. So I just went along with the bus and decided to sort out any issue if it arose once I got to the end of the trip. Once at the end of the trip, I spoke to a lovely gentleman who guided me on my way with the free Hotel Shuttle Bus which links with the Skybus. There are a few routes of the shuttle bus, and you are dropped at the nearest stop to the hotel you are after. This worked out well for me. The only negative I have was the attitude of the woman at the ticket counter, which was not necessary. There are lots of buses to cater for the many tourists who go to Melbourne, if you miss one, another one will come along in a couple of minutes. Stop is located outside of the arrivals area near baggage collection.

Since the introduction of the double deck buses the service has gotten worse each time.
The buses are rough as guts, there is confusion and no system when boarding. People enter from the front & rear and end up over lapping each other to find the correct storage area, then all the little bags end up in the large bag area. So of course passengers then try to lift big bags up and Skybus staff start barking orders at passengers.
If you suffer any sort of motion sickness then you will love that sick feeling as you’re forced to sit up stairs due to inadequate seating below (space wasted by piss poor bus design). The bus rolls and sways making it seem all the worthwhile risking your life in a Melbourne taxi instead!
And in busy periods why can’t they just fill the bus at one stop and send another to the QF stop. Instead they half fill the bus and go up to the next stop and you sit there waiting again..
Then once you’re finally moving be prepared to face plant the seat in front as the drivers all seem to brake at the very last second at every traffic light and then once you’re back in your seat you wait for the accompanying jolt as the automatic transmission goes back into 1st gear.
Bring back the old buses!!

I purchased return tickets online at the airport I was departing prior to arriving in Melbourne. The app was offering a deal of $35 AUD per person, so the total was $70 AUD. I got two barcodes on my phone (one for each person (return)). We turned up at the departure point, which was almost right outside our arrival hall, with 1 minute to spare before next bus and the bus was on time. The driver wasn't the friendliest but it was nearly 01:00 I suppose. He drove very fast, maybe to fast, but we did get to central Melbourne very quickly, in probably around 20 minutes. In general Melbourne city centre is very safe so we just walked to our hotel from the drop off at Southern Cross Station. The journey back was just as quick and easy. If you're travelling to central then whatever time of day this is probably the cheapest and one of the most convenient options available.

Well I had the pleasure of being on the Skybus twice in the last fortnight... both times it ran with it's usual efficiency. Sanitiser is available at the terminals- you are encouraged to use this. The Skybus in the past has left with people standing, but on neither of these trips did it come close to being at capacity.
The trip was an uneventful one... so it made it there in it's scheduled twenty minutes. The cost of the Skybus is comparable to other systems like this around the world.
These might have been the best trips I have ever done on the bus... I actually enjoyed not being crammed in.
Their announcements were clear and their staff were exceptionally polite.

Good service to and from the airport.
It’s a great affordable alternative to taxi or ride share services, which gets you into the city or to the airport within 30 minutes.
Will definitely look to use this service if travelling solo or as duo.

Hi, I am looking to travel in a group of 4 adults and 1 child from Tullamarine airport to CBD and CBD to Avalon airport. Will the return ticket enable me to do that or do we need to book 2 one way tickets (Tullamarine Airport to CBD and CBD to Avalon) separately?
Written 28 September 2022
Hi Shweta, apologies for the delay in coming back to you. You will need to book one-way tickets as our Melbourne City Express and Avalon Express services are different prices due to the distance between the airports (Avalon is a lot further away). You can find tickets on our website for each service type. Thanks - SkyBus

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak with large numbers of holidays/flights being cancelled. Many people who have paid
and pre-booked are unable to travel to Melbourne and use your service.
Will you be offering a refund?
As this is a catastrophic world event that has never been seen before. Or are you just keeping there cash and quoting "booking terms &conditions "

I'm travelling to Melbourne next August. Scheduled to arrive at Avalon at 8.30 pm and would like to ride SkyBus to Victoria Station.
From the station, how about hotel transfer? We are 5 senior citizen each with a bag and hand luggage. Do we have to take another bus, taxi or what?
We are staying at Milano Serviced Apartment, Franklin Street.

Hi, if we catch the skybus from the airport, how close to the Mantra on Russel Hotel can we get? Thanks for any advice. Cheers Barry
Written 12 July 2019
It's a short walk down towards the council buildings. I'd say allow 10-15 minutes to struggle with bags. Russell St and Swanson streets cross the street. I stayed on Little Collins on the opposite side of the block to the bus stop. Have a look at the map of the CBD.

Hi Never heard of Klook. Only trouble with cheaper companies is pick up and drop off may be harder. Do your research first and if it suits your needs then go for it.

Take the next bus 11.00 arrive 11.50 (its gonna be rush from avv station - check in counter less than 40'). Which option is best for my family? Im bringing 5yo child

Can't believe that the Skybbus timetable is so sparse.
Check again??
I would not like to arrive all stressed so don't cut it too close for your flight check in.
Written 8 March 2019
There are a few routes. Look on the Skybus website to see which suits you best. Personally the CBD route terminating/starting Southern Cross Railway station suits me best. It is express between Southern Cross (located in the main CBD area of Melbourne) and Melbourne Airport. At the airport it has two stops. The first services most flights/terminals. The second services Qantas flights, at the extreme northern end of the airport terminal.
