As novice walkers we approached this holiday with a little bit of nervousness. We shouldn't have! We had a great time hiking in the bay of Fires with Park Trek. The area itself is beautiful - wild & remote with pristine white beaches & the most amazing red coloured rocks.Despite some somewhat less than co-operatiive weather in what should have been the best part of the year we had a wonderful few days hiking in this great area.
Our guides, Simon & Alicia, really made the trip. As well as being extremely knowlegable & caring guides, they cooked some wonderful food & really looked after us all.
I really recommend Park Trek & this trip in particular - it's a great introduction to what could become a new holiday passion!

Thank you for the wonderful feedback! So happy to hear your nervous feelings were eased on tour. What a beautiful place Bay of Fires is... and yes, the weather can be very unpredictable!

Fantastic small group tour of the spectacular Tasman Peninsula with Park Trek, guided with passion, professionalism and care by Jon and Jayde over 4 days. The Three Capes Lodge was very comfortable and well appointed in a picturesque setting overlooking Cascades Bay. Jon and Jayde did a great job with the catering, particularly with the dietary challenges of gluten free for Coeliac. Their care for everyone when we were on trail was exemplary, looking after varied capabilities to make sure everyone got the full experience. Communication by Park Trek pre-trip was great, and Jon & Jayde continued this with informative briefings throughout the trip. They were also flexible and open to varying the itinerary for new experiences in the region. Highly recommend this tour.

Our guides Bianca and Beatrice did an amazing job on our recent Bay of Fires walk. They were a wonderful, knowledgeable team.

They adjusted the itinerary to cope with the weather conditions (gusty winds) to ensure a far more pleasant walk with the wind to our backs on this mostly beach-walk track. This limited fatigue and incorporated viewing sites in drier conditions than was allowed for in the original schedule of activities.

Mid-walk a member of our group tested positive for COVID 19. The guides went above and beyond in ensuring that all walkers needs were met and that  everyone remained as safe as was possible under the very unusual circumstances in which we found ourselves.

They both remained calm and professional in dealing with the health emergency, though they themselves were also at great risk. They took their responsibilities seriously in ensuring the wellbeing of the group and customized the safe transportation of everyone to their final destination.

Dear 2016Stockholm, Thank you so much for your really wonderfully warm review. This was our first COVID-19 case on tour and it was so wonderful to hear that despite the unusual circumstances our teams response was as we had diligently planned for as a business, and from a guest perspective it was as well handled and with the least impact as possible. We take our commitment to health and safety very seriously for our guests, staff and community, and with a diligent approach to reducing the risk of COVID-19 on our tours. Beatrice and Bianca did an exceptional job responding on this tour and it is our absolute pleasure to share your comments with our team and wider management. We hope to welcome you back on tour in the near future.

Tarkine Wilderness trip.

Luckily the fabulous walkers on the trip and the stunning scenery made up for the lackluster trip provided by ParkTrek.

Changes due to covid were not communicated prior to the trip, resulting in the inability for guests to make up trail mix etc themselves. The advertising related to food was optimistic at best: "selection of antipasto delights, dips, cheese and crackers" was dukkah and bread, while dinner 'menu changes to suit available fresh produce but could include a classic roast lamb, salmon fillet or Thai chicken" meant pasta with olives and vegetarian curry. No protein in site. We even ran out of yoghurt for breakfast. It is no small feat to have older women concerned about not getting enough nutrition.

Safety was also a concern, given the average age of the walkers. The usual safety requirement of one guide at front and one at back was not implemented, leaving walkers to look after each other (which we do anyway however.....). After a hike in sleet where the walkers called the hike to an end as it started to get unsafe, we picked leeches off each other and checked each other for warmth

And for a sustainable eco certified company, unless you bring your own lunchbox etc, there was significant plastic use. Very disappointing for the price point and sales pitch of this trip.

For some, this was a substantially priced trip, which simply did not live up to the hype. Luckily, the group was fabulous and the scenery makes up for a multitude of sins!

Dear curiousnomad2828, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent Tarkine experience with Park Trek. We are pleased to hear you had a great time connecting with like minded travelers on your trek and experienced the spectacular Tarkine. As you may be familiar, and for future readers learning about the destination, the Tarkine is Australia's largest cool temperate rainforest and the second largest in the world. As an untouched hidden treasure of Tasmania we are on tour often controlled by the elements and can from time to time experience leeches in this region. Unfortunately weather and critters are beyond the control of Park Trek and our experienced guiding team will provide advice around this space. I am pleased to advise that we are commencing the roll out and return of trail mix and sharing platters i.e. evening Antipasto platters next week in all regions. Due to covid-19 and in the interest of guest health and safety we have been committed to reducing risk with communal use of items such as utensils and share style platters. Unfortunately this has resulted in additional use of plastic for individually wrapped items and we look forward to being able to return to pre-covid practices whereby plastic and packaging was kept to minimal use in delivery of our tours. Additionally, thank you for your feedback regarding meals served on tour. This is also an area of tour delivery that we have been working consistently on in recent weeks and we are very pleased to advise that significant improvements have been implemented regarding included protein, food quality and quantity. Park Trek are committed to providing healthy and nutritious meals on tour, and in delivery of quality meals to advised dietary requirements. Furthermore you do mention guide and guest safety in your review. I would like to assure you that I am currently investigating your comments with our operations team for further clarity regarding this matter. The safety of our guests is absolutely paramount on tour, and our experienced guides are trained in weather conditions and safety regarding the terrain. In situations deemed unsafe, our guides can and do make the decision to experience alternative walks in the region or turn back in the event of fast paced changed weather patterns resulting in weather non- forecast. We do experience varied weather on tour and guests should be prepared for weather conditions in the region. You are correct in guide practice - one at the front and one at the tail end of the group which you will experience on all tours. I would be pleased to personally discuss these improvements with yourself or future readers for your confidence when booking with Park Trek Walking Holidays. Warm regards, Genevieve Tour Manager

As a family of 4, with young teenagers, we were thoroughly impressed with the Tarkine Wilderness (5 day) tour offered.
The Tarkine is gorgeous.
The walking was enough for my non-bushwalker spouse and young teenagers. Challenging on some tracks, however worth the effort.
The 2 accommodations were clean and comfortable. Corinna is rustic, full of native animals and many walks.
The food prepared and cooked by the guides was impressive, delicious and filling. Plenty of snacks too! We were never hungry.
The guides were amazing, extremely knowledgeable and fun. My children enjoyed their company and they kept them entertained, even during our free/rest-time.
We hope to join another tour in the future.

Good pre hike communication. Park Trek was punctual at pick up and transport was good. Accommodation was excellent and location great. Guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. They also did their best adapting to COVID requirements, especially when we had to cut our trip short due to border closures. Food supplied was basic but adequate. Would recommend Park Trek and will be doing more hikes with them in the future.

Dear F678KV, Thank you for your reviewing your Snowy Mountains trek with Park Trek! We thank you for comments regarding the guides ability to adapt to COVID requirements and understanding that this is a difficult space for tourism operators. Park Trek did not make the decision lightly to cut your trip short on this unfortunate occasion. I will be pleased to share your great feedback with our management and guiding team regarding the excellent knowledge, efficient and friendly approach delivered by our guides on tour. We value our incredible guiding team and the memorable guest moments they deliver.to our clients travelling with us. I am also pleased to advise that we have also been actively working on improvements to our meals supplied on tour over the most recent weeks. It would be my pleasure to speak yourself of future readers regarding these improvements to ensure your confidence when travelling with us in the future. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Warm regards, Genevieve Tour Manager

Having done other walks with other companies, our group of eight ladies found Park Trek to be equal if not better than these. Their pricing was competitive and the accommodation, organisation and food was of a high standard. Even though some of the weather wasn't ideal our competent and knowledgable guides, Rose and Bernie, took this into account and adjusted our hikes to suit. They made sure all of the group was catered for with dietary requirements and the hikes were suited to the varying abilities and interests of the group. We would thoroughly recommend Park Trek to anyone wishing to explore this area through Cradle Mountain and the Tarkine 5 day walk as it gives such a variety of terrain, landscapes, flora and fauna.

We are a group of ladies who did the Bay of Fires hike. It was so disappointing. Our guides were inexperienced, the food was average, they cancelled the last day of our 4 day walk due to "suspected rain" - it didn't rain. I have done many, many hikes in NZ, Australia, and overseas, and this was by far the most disappointing experience. The accommodation was comfortable and clean and perfectly nice, but the feeling that we were on a strict budget was the overall impression. Upon contacting the management after the hike with some constructive criticism, our concerns were dismissed as "Covid and challenging times".

Dear Fi_B111, Thank you for sharing your review with us on Trip Advisor. It was pleasing to hear you did enjoy the accommodation, though of course as we had liaised and discussed with you directly following your trip that not all unfortunately went to plan or did meet your expectations. COVID-19 has presented some huge challenges for so many industries, and especially for hospitality and tourism including skill shortages. We have reviewed your raised discussion points internally as a management team and implemented change based on your important feedback. We do hope to have the chance to welcome yourself and friends back on tour with us in the future. Warm regards, Genevieve General Manager

This was my first experience with Parktrek, a 4 day hike in the Mount William National Park in NE Tasmania. About 3/4 of the walking is on beautiful remote beaches, the remainder on the connecting rocky headlands and one optional easy climb to the top of Mount William with magnificent coastal views. The accommodation was in nice individual rooms with en-suites on Icena Farm, also very remote. The meals were prepared by the guides, good wholesome food with plenty of choices. You prepare your own lunches, salads or wraps. You are required to BYO alcohol The guides Kate and Niki were wonderful, catering to everyone’s needs in the group with enthusiasm and care. They made very smart decisions to hike in reverse to avoid hiking into the wind all day, making it much more pleasant.Their local knowledge was awesome. You have the opportunity to ocean swim each afternoon, ocean in the high 60s at the end of summer. I thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone with a love of hiking.

We took this walking holiday with Park Trek, and can recommend it to people of all ages. Our group were aged from mid 50s to early 70s, and we were all of reasonable fitness, but the daily walks can be adjusted to individual capabilities.

We were picked up in central Hobart, and transferred to the Tasman Peninsula by minibus. We were based in a lodge in a bushland setting with great water views and 6 ensuite rooms. The 3 days of hiking were very ably lead by the two guides, both of whom had a wealth of knowledge about the area and local fauna and flora. The guides also doubled as chefs, preparing healthy breakfasts, packed lunches and excellent evening meals. We swam at the local beaches, some went to the Port Arthur historical site, and the 4th day was reserved for an exhilarating ocean trip around the capes we had hiked to earlier. On the way back to Hobart there was time for some sampling at a winery and a distillery.

Great fun, and highly recommended.
