Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

Even in Winter this roof top bar is busy! Friday afternoon in Melbourne is alive, with a mixture of tourist, locals, and friends catching up for a taste of the Melbourne bar scene. The Imperial roof top bar won't disappoint. My suggestion is to book so you get a bench seat or table. The drinks are reasonably priced and a good selection. You order at the table and not long after your drinks arrive. Good service on a Friday afternoon. Great vibe. Looking forward to going back.

The Imperial Hotel is one of the city's favorite watering holes. The rooftop bar attracts a crowd that is keen to get a drink and get a view of the Melbourne skyline. The public bar is usually busy, it attracts anyone from tradesmen to staffers from the Parliament of Victoria, which is across the street. You can also get a good meal in the Imperial dining room; the steaks make a substantial meal.

For many people who work in the parliamentary precinct, the historic Imperial Hotel is a godsend. The Imperial is at the top end of Bourke St, on the corner of Spring St. It's directly opposite the Parliament of Victoria. The Imperial is favored by public servants and other professional people, who meet for a convivial drink after work. When the weather is good, the Rooftop Bar is a fine place for a drink.

We booked a table on line for 8.30pm on the roof top, when we arrived it took a few minutes for the cocktails to arrive, we then tried to order food but we’re told that last orders were at 9 and the kitchen was closed. This was not obvious from the site. Pretty disappointed to say the least when we made it clear when booking we wanted to eat. Left and ate elsewhere. Easily.

We booked a table on the rooftop bar at The Imperial Hotel.

Whilst it’s only 2 levels up and didn’t offer spectacular views like other higher based rooftop bars the atmosphere was very pleasant with views towards Parliament and Paris end of Collins St. Also great to be outdoors in these covid times.

We didn’t dine here but did enjoy a drink.

Quick and easy check in process, security was under the pump dealing with the anti vax's folks out front, he checked out details, made sure we were fully vaccinated, was sent to the rooftop, such a amazing view, cocktails were really good, food looked good, such a lovely view on a summer's day

Imperial Hotel is on a great location. It is opposite the Parliaqment House building and close to the Princess Theatre as well as other interesting sights. We paid it a brief visit. It does have a nice atmosphere, depending on your taste, and it is good for a reasonable meal and a drink, probably a beer. Nothing too extravagant. There is also outdoor seating on the roof.

Used to be a great sports bar that had free open mics, but is now a wine bar? a sports bar? a restaurant? a cocktail bar? a beer bar? I don't know, and neither do they. Overpriced with an uneasy vibe.
