Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Heard about Punting on the Lake on the commentary on the City Circle Tram and visited the Botanic Gardens one afternoon to investigate further! You can book online but we just turned up and booked the next available slot. $25 per person if going in shared boat (can hold up to 8 people) or $75 for private ride. We opted for the private ride which turned out to be a great choice!
Ayami (who owns and runs the business with her husband) was our punter; she was welcoming, passionate and very knowledgeable about the lake, wildlife and plants. The ride itself was serene and peaceful with lots of opportunities for photos! Ayami should be very proud of the business she has built up - I would recommend Punting on the Lake to everyone!

A very relaxing punt around the lake in the botanical gardens. One of the owners was punting the boat for us and was very informative with information as we went around. We had an 11am trip which was a great time to go. Well worth a trip.

After an enjoyable High Tea at The Terrace we went out to the lake to then go Punting. Were were given rugs and pretty brollies for our photos. What a relaxing way to end a great afternoon. Thanks to our guides , who were both really friendly and helpful

We really enjoyed our outing today. It was relaxing, tranquil and offered a lovely vantage point to see the beautiful gardens. Booking was easy, the staff members were charming and it was reasonably priced.
We would recommend this experience for locals and tourists alike.

Booked online for a private boat ride. The staff Wesley and everyone are helpful. It could be a little confused for the departure point, so be there early would be good.
Relax ride and informative of the lake. We were guided a little for the plants and trees and how the water system work. Quite interesting. Quiet and peaceful event.

I have travelled the world and enjoyed many things but this experience is up there with the best. In my book this is a definite 'must do'! Our host Wesley was amazing and so enthusiastic about what he does. He clearly loves his work and it shows. He was delightful, having a lovely balance between sharing information and allowing us to enjoy the peace, serenity and wildlife of the lake. Don't leave Melbourne without doing this!! 5 star!

What a delightful experience we had this afternoon with Ayami punting us around the lake in the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. It was a very relaxing ride with great information about the gardens, and birdlife and even spotting turtles sunning themselves. Would absolutely do this again.

I would like to ask if the boat seats are always washed everyday? I saw photos on Instagram and Dogs are taking over the boat. I know its free but dogs smells too.

Hello Jerome
I'm sorry I can't help you. I suggest that you email the Botanic Garden. The weather at the moment is shocking, I don't think anyone will be going punting for a while.
