Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Melbourne Visitor Centre can tell you everything you need to know about Melbourne. They have maps and brochures, and can tell you how to get around. Melbourne is a relatively simple place to negotiate if you know where you are going. The trams are useful, and you can travel for free in the city centre. The Melbourne Visitor Centre is adjacent to the Town Hall, at the corner of Collins Street and Swanston Street.

I have long visited the city tourist information centres and found the staff helpful and informative. I usually collect brochures for regional centres and maps where they exist. Sadly brochures rarely have town street maps anymore. You have to find the Info centre at the town, which is not often well located for visitors coming by train.

The staff at Melbourne Information Centre are wonderful. We got lots of information and advice as well as several useful leaflets and a terrific map. In fact we got the same professional and friendly welcome from both Information Centres we attended.

Located at the nice and crowded Federation Square, we found that we were getting helpful information in the Centre. Helpful people and good city map.

The people at the visitor centre are volunteers who love their city. The Centre itself is not in Fed square but in the Town Hall 2 blocks up Swanston St.

I miss the perfect location at Flinders St Station, but it’s gone due to the train station enhancements!
It’s new location at the Melbourne City Council Building is smaller, but introducing MELBOURNE in the heritage building is a good start! The friendly staff and many many free voluntary guides in red would be more than happy to share with you what makes MELBOURNE tick! Why it was once the capital of Australia, why it was the most liveable city in the world 8 times in a row.... Be inquisitive, be pampered, be inspired by the most friendly and people city! Free trams in the cbd, trains, trams, walking routes and cycling trails.... our most magnificent Royal Botanical Gardens, The National Art Gallery, State of the art Art Centre ...... too many to mention! I am still finding out after half a century!

This visitor location is centrally located and they offer a great pedestrian map which outlines where the free tram stops are.

We wanted information on how to get to a particular place but the staff were confused and unable to help in the end. We figured it out ourselves before we went.

Hi
Probably the easiest way it to hire a car and drive via Calder Fwy/M79.
Alternatively catch a train from Southern Cross Station Bendigo via Sunbury which take about a hour and the catch a bus Macedon. Exit via Victoria street and either a taxi or 4 KM walk.
Hope this helps.
