    all you need
It is a very handy location. It has a wide range of shops, cinemas, food facilities, is on top of a metro station, next to busy tram lines, and across the road from the public library. I am often passing through here and frequently pop in for food or coffee. There is much to choose from. Sometimes I just come in to be out of the weather.

    Shopping!!!
Visited with my wife, primarily to find a new back pack. What a huge shopping mall, built around the Coops shot tower, with the most amazing atrium and clock. There are many floors of varied shops, restaurants and cafes.

This is one of the main shopping centres in Melbourne and is very popular because there is an underground subway train station located below this building complex.

There are a huge variety of shops in this place.

The large Seiko Clock that plays the choral overtures of Waltzing Matilda every hour, has lasted around 30 years. Out of the clockworks descends numerous levels of galahs and cockatoos, native birds of Australia. Delightful to watch and listen to.

There is also a historic Shot Tower in the vicinity that is heritage listed.

Melbourne Central has a buzz, There's lots of shopping, from RM Williams, the bushman's outfitters, to a large Coles Supermarket. There's also lots of eateries and specialty shops. The Coops Shot Tower dates from the Victorian era, there's a small museum at the base. The Melbourne Central underground loop station gives easy access to the centre.

The Shot Tower was saved from demolition and is now a Melbourne landmark. R M Williams, the bushman's outfitters., have an outlet in the base of the tower. A small museum can be found inside the base of the tower. Shot was made mainly in the 19th century for shotguns. More convenient methods of manufacturing shot are now used. Melbourne Central is now a retailing centre, from up market to everyday retailers. It also hosts the Melbourne Central Loop Station. Melbourne Central also has a chiming clock, which is popular with visitors.

We celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday at Novotel Melbourne Central. We booked for an overnight stay and made dinner reservations at Pretty Boy Italian Restaurant. We were greeted warmly at the reception & they’ve been handing chilled sparkling wine, how good is that! Isabella made sure everyone checking in are being attended to. The rooms couldn’t be faulted, very clean, fresh sheets, made up bed & my daughter even got a hand written card from the NIMC team with chocolates & balloons.
Loved the bathroom that comes with a make up mirror, definitely a plus. Facilities are looking good. We’ve been to different hotels in the city and it was our first time at Novotel Central and I can say we were very impressed. Then for dinner, we were assisted by the very approachable & lovely Chef Darren. Weeks before the event he called me & helped me with what kind of menu/dinner set up I would like to have. I said its just an intimate dinner with close family and friends and all of his suggestions were on point. Food, drinks, what we need on the night for decorations, etc. He made planning very seamless. On the night our friends had an exquisite dinner. We had the feed me menu which we were very pleased with. We loved the good food, wine glasses always filled and the ambience of the restaurant overall made it a perfect event. Sergio looked after us the entire night and mind you the restaurant is very busy. Loved their service. The chef on the night even came out to greet us & checked on us. I would definitely recommend this place for any party or celebration you might have or if you are just wanting to have a staycation. It’s in the heart of the city and next to popular malls, church, train station, etc. You would never run out of things to do here. To top it all, it all ends well with their buffet breakfast with so much selections , freshly squeezed juice, made to order omelettes & latte. Thank you Em for letting us find this gem in the city! Definitely coming back here.

As a uni student between 2006 and 2009, I used to come to Melbourne Central all the time. I also have many fond memories of visiting Melbourne Central as a child; in those days, there was Daimaru which visiting was an experience in itself not the mention the anticipation of watching Santa descend from the cone tower on vines during the festive season. Even in the first 10 years of the 21st Century, there were stores like Borders and interesting pop up stands that sold unusual gifts like handmade journals, which made for an interesting shopping experience.

Now that I no longer study or work in the CBD, I seldom come to Melbourne Central and after my most recent visit I can’t say one is missing out on much. It has a train station and plenty of stores although nothing that I couldn’t go to at a more local shopping centre like Chadstone or Southland. Food court has the usual run of the mill fast food joints like McDonalds, Schnitz, a pizza place and some Asian ones; Cupcake Central is great but again, I could get the same thing at Frankston. Same way I could do bowling or go to the cinema or visit a Groove Train or Grill’d more locally.

Oh yes, and toilets are no better (maybe worse) than any other shopping centre I could visit locally.

Would have to say I was impressed by both the quantity of rioters, and the level of dedication. Fair to say it was a worthy cause seen as old mate needs to learn what exam to print. Would recommend for a cheeky Wednesday arvo riot - will be back for sure!
