About
Melbourne Central is a diverse shopping and dining destination that invites you to keep exploring. Bringing together more than 300 retailers over five levels, Melbourne Central is home to an absorbing range of Australian and international fashion brands from Gorman, Alannah Hill, Crumpler to Vans and Nique. Take a sugar break at Cupcake Central, a beauty break at Mecca Maxima or an indulgent time-out at Self Centred Medi Spa. The buzz continues after dark, whether you are lurking in Knox Lane with its graffiti by Melbourne's infamous DABS and MYLA, or basking beneath a screen in the Hoyts Lux Cinema. Spanning two city blocks, the centre boasts several unique architectural features including the giant Marionette Watch hanging in Shot Tower Square, famous for its hourly rendition of the Australian anthem 'Waltzing Matilda'. The square is named after the historic Coops Shot Tower a bullet-making facility built in 1889. Today, the brick shot tower stands proudly in its original place, protected by a modern twist: the magnificent Glass Cone, designed in the '80s by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. While it floods the centre with natural light, the Glass Cone's design also makes it one of Melbourne's most recognisable landmarks. Located atop the City Loop Melbourne Central train station and can be found on the iconic free city circle tram route. Melbourne Central boasts 822 car parks making it the perfect base for Melbourne city excursions. The five-star-rated parents' retreat offers a sanctuary for families, while The Little Library free book exchange provide spaces for pause and escape from the city's frenetic buzz. Whatever brings you to Melbourne, be it shopping, exploring, lunch, brunch or simply an unexpected adventure, it is all waiting between Lonsdale and La Trobe. Or to go behind the scenes book a place on Melbourne Central's Unlocked Tour which leads visitors around hidden nooks, rarely-seen vantage points and secret rooftops. Bernadette Alibrando can also tell you the tales of Melbourne Central's huge range of artworks in the Walk to Art Tours. For bookings please visit the Melbourne Central website.

    Central Shopping mall
Visited in Feb 2023 Located just above the Central station, this massive shopping mall has plenty of shops from various brands and many F&B outlets as well as food courts and cinema (Hoyts). In downtown Melbourne close to Chinatown, this place can get busy! I'm here for Lego and Kiehl's. Loved this mall and Chadstone mall. Even if you're not a shopper, this mall has some interesting architecture.

    Celebration at Novotel MC
We celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday at Novotel Melbourne Central. We booked for an overnight stay and made dinner reservations at Pretty Boy Italian Restaurant. We were greeted warmly at the reception & they’ve been handing chilled sparkling wine, how good is that! Isabella made sure everyone checking in are being attended to. The rooms couldn’t be faulted, very clean, fresh sheets, made up bed & my daughter even got a hand written card from the NIMC team with chocolates & balloons. Loved the bathroom that comes with a make up mirror, definitely a plus. Facilities are looking good. We’ve been to different hotels in the city and it was our first time at Novotel Central and I can say we were very impressed. Then for dinner, we were assisted by the very approachable & lovely Chef Darren. Weeks before the event he called me & helped me with what kind of menu/dinner set up I would like to have. I said its just an intimate dinner with close family and friends and all of his suggestions were on point. Food, drinks, what we need on the night for decorations, etc. He made planning very seamless. On the night our friends had an exquisite dinner. We had the feed me menu which we were very pleased with. We loved the good food, wine glasses always filled and the ambience of the restaurant overall made it a perfect event. Sergio looked after us the entire night and mind you the restaurant is very busy. Loved their service. The chef on the night even came out to greet us & checked on us. I would definitely recommend this place for any party or celebration you might have or if you are just wanting to have a staycation. It’s in the heart of the city and next to popular malls, church, train station, etc. You would never run out of things to do here. To top it all, it all ends well with their buffet breakfast with so much selections , freshly squeezed juice, made to order omelettes & latte. Thank you Em for letting us find this gem in the city! Definitely coming back here.

Trip to Melbourne Australia has been one of my best holidays ever. What a wonderful place to be. In the Melbourne CBD area you have a free team zone. Just hop in and hop off. Explore the lanes for stores and eateries and architecture of old buildings with family. Just walk and walk n enjoy the whole day.

Popular shopping center in the middle of the city
Melbourne Central is a popular shopping center in the middle of the city of Melbourne. It adjoins Melbourne Central Station; a train stop on the City Loop. Melbourne Central is prospering, it has a wide variety of specialty outlets. A favouite with visitors are the p cockatoos, who perform on the hour with the clock. The historic Coops Shot Tower is sheltered by a conical glass tower.

Melbourne Central opened in the 1990s and has a very impressive dome in the middle. The dome protects the historic Coop's Shot Tower which was built in the 1800s and the mall saved the tower from demolition!

The mall is well connected to public transport and is in the free tram zone. The mall is full of good quality shops, coffee and could be a good place to get a bite to eat. If your there on the hour look for the large Seiko clock which will open up to reveal some funny Australian birds and has some koalas on the back by the gears.

Our first time to return to this restaurant after the pandemic. Food is great as usual. Lobster and crispy pata were tasty and the portions are generous.
