Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.

Cracking quality fresh fruit and veggies. Plus a wonderful selection of gourmet food options. A number of options for lunch also. A definite go to for a great food experience.
We stocked up for an apartment stay at St Kilda. Tram 72 up Commercial Road.

Years ago, working class people came here for cheap food. It is no longer cheap, but the quality and variety have advanced much beyond those days. It is fun to walk around looking at things you did not see before.

Recently dropped by on a recent trip to Melbourne. I had not been before and was suitably impressed. Excellent selection of pies, meats, pasta, fresh fruit and vegetables. Great rejection of coffee vendors and dips and nibbles. Wonderful destination shopping.

This is a lovely market. The outer part is filled with eatery's. The inner part has a lovely fruit , flowers and vegetable section. There is cheese, bakery and cured meat intermingled. There is also a meat section. Closed Mondays and Wednesdays. But if you are in the are you should go and visit it.

I really liked this place and we ended up going there a few times for brunch. It reminded me very much of Borough Market in London. Fantastic fresh fruit and vegetables and a variety of other fresh produce from Australia a lot of which is organic and eco friendly. It is just near Chapel Street too which is a favourite too.

Thanks for the lovely review Dancingtraveller61! We just love the Borough Market; thank you for comparing us! Brunch, followed by a market shop sounds like a pretty perfect way to spend the weekend. Hopefully, we see you back here again soon!
Kind regards, Market Management.

I stayed at a hotel right beside Prahran Market and it was very convenient to have fresh groceries that close.
There are plenty of options to choose from in the Market, fresh fruits, vegetables, great place for coffee and breakfast and also yummy lunch options.
The only downside it's they close around 5pm. Would be nice to have some night events with the market. But within my 2 week stay in Prahran, the market met all my expectations.

This market was a joy to visit. There was great range of stalls where we were able to buy fresh pasta, meats, cheeses, fruit and vegetables. We also bought fresh pastries and filled rolls. We will definitely revisit when we are next in Melbourne.

Located within an architecturally stunning building, (especially the facade), is home to the local, fresh fruit and vege market, the prices were are little exxie for our tastes, however, it was nice to stroll up and down the stands.

I cannot say its a standard market we were looking for, its not like QVM or SMM kind of market but its quite hippy and hi-end cafe and over priced food area.
Oyster stall, gotta watch out!! Some Chinese oyster vendor charged $0.50 for the tray if you do not order 12pcs of oyster and will tell you off for rejecting the sales. Well, it's expected of the mainlanders 😈.
The White people Australian are nicer vendors, even greeted you and offer to double wrap your meat, talked to you a little..then offered you a mint!! That was so nice.
Essential is a huge kitchen store that sells cookery staff from pasta & truffle oil to baking utensils and dining setting. Quinoa is so affordable at AU$4++.

Thanks for the four star review Amanda.
We have a large range of stallholders, all offering something different. The one thing they have in common is their passion for making sure that the quality of the fresh produce on offer is the best you can find; and that is definitely is reflected in the taste.
Each of our traders has their own unique characteristics, personality, and background. And it is them that make the market community the vibrant and colourful place that it is.
We hope to see you here again soon.
Kind regards,
Market Management.

As a regular Prahran Market shopper, and having tried similar looking products at this market as well as others, I would definitely put myself out there and claim Naheda's consistently make the best and freshest dips around.
The cheese variety is great and is matched by the people serving.
If you only got to one store to add to your dinner party, or want something special this place has it all.
Kudos to all involved
