Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.

Wonderful.

This market is nowhere near the size of the Victoria Markets or the South Melbourne Markets, however, it has a similar style and contains the same variety of stalls. The produce, meats, and eateries are just stunning.

Quality selection
May 2021
Years ago, working class people came here for cheap food. It is no longer cheap, but the quality and variety have advanced much beyond those days. It is fun to walk around looking at things you did not see before.

It’s a great market for just walking around, getting a bite to eat or a coffee and of course choosing top quality produce. It has everything you might want even those difficult to find ingredients from specialty shops. I’ve been going there for many years and just love going there even if I don’t need to!

This market is buzzing but does not offer you the top notch quality veggies, meat and fruits it promises. You better go to good quality shops.

Our traders are renowned for their beautiful produce; they take personal pride in selecting everything that is on display in their stalls, focussing on seasonality and quality. So again, we're sorry you didn't enjoy your experience; we have a lot of faithful customers who would disagree with you, but if you'd like to send us some more details via email (management@prahranmarket.com.au) we'll definitely follow it up. I really liked this place and we ended up going there a few times for brunch. It reminded me very much of Borough Market in London. Fantastic fresh fruit and vegetables and a variety of other fresh produce from Australia a lot of which is organic and eco friendly. It is just near Chapel Street too which is a favourite too.

Thanks for the lovely review Dancingtraveller61! We just love the Borough Market; thank you for comparing us! Brunch, followed by a market shop sounds like a pretty perfect way to spend the weekend. Hopefully, we see you back here again soon! Kind regards, Market Management.

Italian, Greek, German, Turkish, Breads, Fruit & Veg etc. the lust goes on
